Re: Ultimate Editor
Hello,
I did apply the patch indeed. Does this mean I must first install the regular, then use UE, and then apply the patch and then mpr so that it works?
Regards, Joshua

Re: Ultimate Editor
Before you start over you can try to run the "BOTF resolution patch"
you can download from here
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2218&hilit=1024
extract download
before running patcher delete all files in the folder "WDF" folder extract all files from stbof.res to that empty folder.
then locate the trek.exe you want to patch.
then locate the folder you just extracted stbof.res to
then set res to 1024 x 768 (1024 x768 must be use since files are setup for only that resolution)
then click patch
if this fails you would need to uninstall UDM then reinstall and make map changes first. and not use 1024 patch since it would write improper code for your map size.

Re: Ultimate Editor
Hello
I'm playing Ultimate Dominion Mod, and would like to edit the starting ships and / or their stats.
However, I've gone through all the editable files using "UE 0.7.1b" but am having trouble locating the correct thing to edit - please advise.
On a separate note.
Are you sure the ships are "balanced"?
The stats for for Fed's Dreadnought are not particularly better than Reman Warbirds, but the latter can cloak. Is this even?
All Klingon ships cloak? I have trouble defending from the Roms, but now the Klings get an extra turn too!...? Is this accurate to the Star Trek universe?
These are just questions.
Your mod is f-ing amazing! Thank you

to me they are, maybe not to you.klingonfunfunfun wrote:On a separate note.

yes, while not all Klingon ships were shown cloaked, they have technology to do this. (UE will turn this off if that's what you want)klingonfunfunfun wrote:All Klingon ships cloak? Re: Ultimate Editor
Thanks
How would you describe the pros of each species with the UDM?
It's not the same as the original botf game anymore - Heavy Escorts & Dreadnoughts put Feds clear lead with military.
Kling
Best ships?
Fed
Science, therefore reach advanced ships and constructions faster?
Diplomacy - easier to acquire minor races?
Rom
2nd best intel?
Race morale easier to maintain - population not so fussed whether war or peace?
Car
Best Intel?
Dom
?
Thanks

Re: Ultimate Editor
I have a question about changing outpost and starbase shield and hull values. I try to change Vanilla using UE 7.1.b making modifications in the stbof.res file under ship stats and my changes never show up in the game. They show in the ship stats using UE and the table it creates (I save the changes, close and reopen the file and everything looks good in UE), but never in the game. I've tried changing each unit individually and using the group edit function using multipliers. I assumed it would be a simple modification of just changing the values in UE. What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Ultimate Editor
1. ship stat changes will not work on saved games.Storko wrote:What am I missing?
2. it sounds like you are not saving to correct location. the stbof.res should be edited in install path of game and saved in same location with same name.

Re: Ultimate Editor
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I'm still stumped. I use UE to open the stbof.res in the install path, and I hit save without changing anything. I close everything out to be sure, and return to the same location and open the stbof.res file. UE shows my new changes, but when I launch the game there is no change. I've made changes to galaxy generation in regards to how many minors there are in the game, changed galaxy size, etc. with no issues at all (which is in the trek.exe file).
Re: Ultimate Editor
Then you must have a copy of that game/mod and lunching the unchanged one; don't despair, it happened to me too when i started using UE, it made me crazy.
But trust us, UE works. Just make sure you are opening there right stbotf.res in UE, and then you indeed start the game you modified. Check the path on you desktop icon, i assume you use an icon to start the game.

Re: Ultimate Editor
Thanks for the responses thunderchero and adi. I finally discovered my problem. I copied a Vanilla install by just making a new folder in Windows and copying the files, and I put the copy in a subfolder of Vanilla (I did use a different folder name). I don't fully understand why this caused my problem because I was constantly checking which files I was modifying and launching, but when I did a fresh Vanilla install to a different root folder on the same drive it solved my problem.

Re: Ultimate Editor
this is due to there are many coded locations for where file load from.Storko wrote:I don't fully understand why this caused my problem because I was constantly checking which files I was modifying and launching
1. the trek.exe has 2 location that referance the registry that has location of install.
2. The stbof.ini also is used to check location of the stbof.res and other files.
This is why you always use the original location for playing/editing any copied file location should be for backup only.

Ok, thanks for the clarification thunderchero.
