Re: slow turns fix
since you do not have a fix for this problem your topic has been moved in to modding section.
The only hope I know of for this problem would be clone project.

you need more ram on your pc i have 4gb of ram and i never have any slow turns my turns r superfast so its all good for me you might either need a new motherboard with faster capacity or more ram on your computer

pal28,
memory is not the issue with this problem, this is due to larger maps with lots of ships on map, and limited coding of game.
I have heard players with 32 gigs of memory with same problem. But as I have posted before, if you kill the AI and most of their ships turn time goes back to normal.

10 seconds is slow, dude. You'll hit that once your in the hundred or so turns, but if you go for the long game (i.e. you want a tech 10 finish, and start at level 1) is when it'll really slow the game down between turns.
Re: will there ever ba a slow turns fix
I'm experiencing similar issues with slow turns. Running a quad-core i7 with 8 GB RAM and a 256MB graphics card, on windows 7. Specifically, I'm playing UDM 3.0 large, on a large map. Is this a normal occurrence? Is the only way to fix this through wiping out my enemy? Game is borderline unplayable with 2 min+ turns.

it is not a fix but yes after so many turns this is only current way to reduce turn time.coolfish7 wrote: Is the only way to fix this through wiping out my enemy?

Well as we know, time is relative; it does not pass at the same rate for everybody; if you enjoy what you are doing and/or are distracted, it goes much faster; if you are waiting for something and you keep looking at the clock it goes slower.
So, my advice is play botf in a windowed mode (easy with MPR++) and while the turn computes, browse the net, or do whatever else fancies you.
And yes, blowing your enemies fleets out of the sky also seems to help.

Hi everyone,
I was hoping someone could upload a saved game for me.
I am looking for a saved game that has a very long turn process time for testing. (please state how long process time is for you, use stop watch if you can)
save needs to be from an unedited vanilla or mod (I need to be able to load without a lot of other files or editing)

Nobody......
I have been doing some testing with the saved games I already had with some promising results.
the current saved game is more combat calculation time (199 vs 1)
original time from clicking turn until combat began 22.8 seconds
after playing around new time 7.2 seconds
and I am sure everyone is now wondering how...
I really want to test this on a saved game with 3-5 min turn time. but just don't have time right now to play that long.

Does it have to be Vanilla? Can it be a GALM save? If so, I may have one... let me know if you need one still
Re: will there ever ba a slow turns fix
I'd like to change the research from 10 down to 5 levels. When you start at low tech level, the game is much faster, even when played past turn 200. Starts slowing down when you approach level 5. Does anyone know how to change the tech levels?

Re: will there ever ba a slow turns fix
it would not be very easy, but UE will do most of the changes, but some may need to be done using hex. Depending on how you adjust ships and structures this would take some time.mickar1 wrote:I'd like to change the research from 10 down to 5 levels. but I doubt if it would help, in my tests on the slow turn problem, the AI early has less options as to what it can do, as it is able to explore further is when turns start to slow down.
what makes slow turns worse? larger maps and more ships.
