Change your starting ships

Hi
I've worked through each of the settings in stbof.res using ultimate editor, but I can't find where to change the starting ships for the races. I want to increase the number and vary the type of starting ships in the standard version of BOTF based on the different starting levels (e.g. at advanced, race gets Command Cruiser, a few explorers, some destroyers and a few troop transports.

Any pointers???

Hi Russ,

it is not that easy to control what ships the game starts with. here is the only post on the subject.

but as I said this is more of a general setting regardless of starting level. it more depends on what is available at each of the starting tech.

Thanks Thunderchero...the only questions I have are...
1. I take it this is in the trek.exe?
2. In the Ultimate Dom mod 3, Fed start with about 6 or 7 ships in Sol and a couple in each of the other colonised systems at game start. Is this easy to do with the stock botf install?

yes, you must hex edit the trek.exe

Hi all i know there is another thread with the same topic but i was wondering if anyone has figured out the code for the starting ships yet i beleive there is because theres different ships in UDM3 when started U get the galaxy class promethius class sabre class does this have to be hex edited? if it is u can move this question into hex editor neo if not this is off topic
