Removing the AI

Hi there,

so we've been playing with 3-4 people so far and the AI on hard or impossible is always dragging the game to the late game with us throwing fleets against each other till someone wins. Now I have come up with the idea to remove the AI by starving their population. I tried using the Ultimate Editor but it doesn't really work out for me. I also used a hex editor to edit the trek.exe but I am too inexperienced to do that properly.

Is there an easy way to get rid of the AI ?

Regards
Westmensch

It sounds like you were so close,

you can not remove AI, but you can remove/kill off any major races controlled by AI using UE

1. start new game and save game on first turn.
2. open saved game with UE.
3. go to edit/system/system info, use dropdown list to edit each AI system population to 0 with population slider. be sure to edit secondary systems to 0 also or set AI races to tech 1 when selecting starting options. Note; on some mods like UDML you will need to edit secondary systems even on t1 start
4. load edited saved game.

next turn all player will get message "long day to remember..."

Thanks thunderchero.

I thought about that, too, but for some reason it didn't work the first time. I will try again, must have missed something.

If you don't want to edit the saved game this will also work

backup the trek.exe to a safe place for use next time.

open trek.exe with UE, go to edit/game/starting conditions

just change AI race/races to 0 population and 0 credits for the same tech level you plan on setting. and save trek.exe

on galaxy generation (opening turn) AI race will be listed but next turn you will get message "long day to remember..."
