Re: NV Intrepid
as for separation by face, bsp is fine. I have an flt that looks great in creator (only a couple very minor flickers)
note; if you look hard enough almost every complexed model will have minor flickering.
The only way I got it to convert was to combine polygons to lower vertexes, this results in less bsp planes during separation = flickering
funny thing is creator shows 5008 vertexes, my guess is creator counts slots, but hottohob slots don't count toward max?
My issue is too many vertexes error during hottohob conversion. we need a new hottohob.exe converter with higher vertex limits.
limits of hottohob.exe
5000 polygons
4999 vertexes
there is other limits for total slot, DOF beads, switches,

Re: NV Intrepid
do we have sourcecode of old hottohob.exe?
if lucky all we need to do is increase hardcoded limit to 7500 etc

Re: NV Intrepid
yes, but not sure if it could be increased yet. I have asked Flocke to look at source code.Benman2785 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 9:49 am do we have sourcecode of old hottohob.exe?

btw if we keep 5000 polygon limit, vertex limit should be 15000. (each polygon has 3 vertexes).

How much scrubbing milk and fine steel wool for the cleaning of a ship of this size?thunderchero wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 6:21 pmI am starting to think it might look better more gray than "dirty"
Even many simple vanilla models have the issue at certain angels if you look close enough e.g. Defiant, Sovereign and B'rel.thunderchero wrote: ↑Thu Aug 24, 2023 8:27 amif you look hard enough almost every complexed model will have minor flickering.
I don't know how many bugs is too many but that point is reached somewhere before however many in BotF is.

How about this:
Change 'Scrap' to 'Scrub':

Increasing vertex limit in trek.exe
ok this is only a test model.
intrepid prefiles
model has proper lighting and phaser are in proper place (6 forward and 2 rearward)
scale of 10.0 in creator, 18.7 used during hot to hob conversion. (187 meter\units)
model has 4840 vertex
ship pack has all tga file for 1366 and 1920

Re: NV Intrepid
I know, just not sure who or if anyone would be using it. so I would say no rush for asm trek.exe container. I think we both have too many current projects at the moment.
this morning I spent 2 hour trying to create alternate textures, before I realized the files I was adding were 1024 x 1024 gifs...
shippack gif was in between the 2 below
dirty hu_b.gif very light hu_c.gif

i use the "8016 creator - 4840 hot (could uses original or new hottohob.exe no issues in game) shippack" version - and i am very happy with it
now i would love to have the NX Enterprise with same desgin - do you have some 3ds for that?
