Well it is possible you could use the parent class "station" and it might be able to build addons that are not pods. The other possibility is using the "starbase" class label and change the pods to the officer upgrade class, which might cause the ai to build them, since the ai knows to build officer...

After testing, setting crit % to 0 does not make invincible ships. I also reccomend downing hull hit % so you don't bleed dry of drones before getting destroyed. Having Cubes turned on you could be bad.

A1 has hull hitpoints, look in your activision odfs. Also remember that there's those hit chances you gotta mess with.
