The color can be changed, but it would affect all ships and stations with shields. That part is hardcoded.

Borg Tactical Diamond preview

You can have multiple game folders without crashing your computer. I have a regular game and 5 mods installed in various game folders and all of them work just fine.

When saving the wireframe or build button, choose the "Save As" function under the File menu. Choose "TGA" format and then click the "Options" button in the save file box. Flag 24 bit and uncompressed. Then close the options box and save the file.

I believe that the commands for playing, and the location for the Intro movie are hardcoded. But the movie itself is a regular .bik movie.
