I want to make artillary photons dissable weapons but do no damage (its for Armada 1 btw) I can sort the damage thing out but im not sure what command I need to use to use to make them dissable weapons. I thought about basing them off the myotronic inhibitor but that doesnt allow me to use a torpedo...

As long as the firing arc of the weapons is fixed then there will be no problem with the turrets only facing forward, Otherwise it would be a good idea to change them to a type of weapon with a wider arc.

hmm im not sure why your getting that, I dont claim to be an excelent modeler but ive been around. From what I know it doesn't matter where they're placed but im guessing the closer to the center of your mesh for your mesh ancors and the closer to the center of your whole model for the geomtry node ...

You might want to only one of you do the editing and then send the odf to the other person, that way you know that you have exactly the same odf.
