Hmm... I think I like the warp nacelles, so I might just make some ships with a similar configuration. I don't really like the overall design of the ship though.

There are far too many polys in the head portion; you'll definetly need to fix that before releasing it. I'd try to keep the front portion under 100 polys if I were making a model like this one.

I don't think I understand. With the mods I've done in the past, the ships do move in attack patterns, at least the small ones anyway. I don't know why, but sometimes they do and sometimes they don't Also, when I did have A1 way back when, I don't remember the physics being any different from armada...

I usually use GIMP 2 for making whatever textures I want, and keep them in .bmp until I'm done making changes. When I want to export to .tga I just use MGI Photosuite, since it's very quick.

Yes, that's it exactly; adding your own sprite node to a new shield mesh. You can even put multiple sprite nodes on the shield mesh, so yo can have an explosion effect and a shield flash if you like.
