Special weapons will work as on Borg ships. They just don't all display but the AI will use them. Problem is the player can't use them at will and the AI uses them only when it wants to. About the only thing that can help to gain a slot is to delete the dumb (in my opinoin) self destruct.

What you're talking about is possible. Make the stations with 'research' capability and have it build pods. The pods would simply use the SOD of the turret you want to build.

Reinstall is always a good bet when all else fails- Just add modded things one at a time and see what works and what doesn't. It's a long process but it will pay off. If all else fails you can have additional shipyards and const2 construction ships to build additional items.

I built deathstars for each race in A2 that are huge spheres and every once in a while in the end of the game one will become invisible. You can see its weapons fire but my ships can't see it to shoot at.. It's usually the last AI ship in instant action so it's not a big deal- but it is weird.

There's no reason you can't do this. Some of the other explosions in the ODF/OTHER folder have values for ship damage when they go off. Search for a freeware editor on sites like PC Magazine's or just do a Google search "freeware hex editor" and you'll get plenty to choose from. Mine is ancient but works fine so I don't know any new good ones.

Rob- once you copy the original TGA file and change the color to blue name it almost the same as the original except for one letter.
