Star Wars: Reo Starfighter

Post by CaptSyf » Tue Jan 11, 2005 1:26 am

I just wanted to take a moment to make a seperate thread for this thing. It was originally posted in the Federations Concept tread. Anyways, This here is the REO. It is part of a, shall we say, secret project. Anyways, it is a ship that gets it's influence from the Naboo starfighter, and the A-wing Starfighter (Yes, that means Star Wars). Zered made the original model, and I made some modifications to it, renderering it into a Star wars model. If you like Star Wars, keep an eye out, as a fututre announcement will tell all. But for now, I'll show you a pic of the (bit early) ship.

I'll post a more updated pic when I get the texturing finished. Hope you like it.

Looks interesting.
If large amounts of yellow are kept in final texture, I would suggest adding reflectiveness (not sure if thats even a real word) to the texture material if possible, to give it a glossy type of look.
The R2 unit on the fighter is a nice touch and I really like the cockpit design!

"Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand..." Duran Duran
...Sorry, couldnt help it with the name...hehehe
I know its spelled different but had to listen to the song as I write my reply...by the gods, I have way to much time on my hands sometimes.

That's ok, we can blame Duren-Duran....

Yeah ships not bad but I am wondering about the poly count for a fighter?

Very funny Straxus... That's exactly what I was listing to when I named it (thinking "she dance crossed the stars"), I've always liked Duran Duran's music.

I went with the Yellow, to give it that Naboo feel (along with the Y-Wing). As for the poly count - 1170. And what this will be part of, not a problem. I will say total conversion mod, but not too much more for now. I'll leave it up to Zered when he wants to tell more (it's his project).

Hehehehe.... Not right now C-ray. But, yes, a TC like never before... In it's own way!

Okay...I got to thinking, the Reo wouldn't work as a fighter to well, for the fact that it would be able to land. Not a good idea. So, I changed it to a fixed quad wing. Here's an updated version of it, along with more work on the textures (still not where I want them). It's going in the right direction at least.

Yes I have had an idea for a mod like this since me and a friend came up with some schematics for a modified Y wing for the star wars role playing game back 7 or 8 years ago.....has it been that long.......oh my....anyways I never found a way to make it into 3D until now. So, this should be fun.
I enjoy the moments of peace and quite.

It kinda looks like a K-wing now...but it is still a great model.

the y wing style one would have wourked as well, the carrier that would have held it would just have had to bee modified witha slot for the lower wing to rest in when it was landing.

it looks V.good

That's right, this bird is done. I did a little action scene just for a picture shoot. Here's the Reo Starfighter in all it's glory.

Yeah, I liked the tri-wing version alot. But still, this version is pretty sweet too.

Edit: Here's a link for a larger version of the image.

Niice. Which era of SW is this for? The glorious epic trilogy, or the tenth-rate prequel trilogy? (oops, showing a tad of favouritism there :p)

Hmm, maybe use that tri-wing concept in another fighter, but with the third wing dorsal instead of ventral. :)

It looks REALLY REALLY good now. 8O
