Post by icewolf132 » Sun Oct 02, 2005 7:36 pm

basicly put, how the heck do you put an animated texture onto a mesh?

Well, if I'm understanding you correctly, you're asking how to animate a TGA file... which is impossible, as far as I know. The only other way to animate textures on a model would be to use sprites, much like the shield, borg, and damage sprites. Maybe someone who does models would be better equipped to answer this. :?

Here is a link to a post regarding this subject:

Jkerplay and I had an extensive post in the old AFC forums and the link is what we could salvage from that post.
You will need 3D studio max to properly export texture animations on models (unless a newer milkshape plugin allows this now)

How this works is you have a TGA file set up with rows of texture or pattern (one of the first examples of this properly used that I have seen was the Shadow ship that I think Gleacer made.)

Depending on what animation command node you use (look in Armada sprite folder for file called texture animations.spr or similar name)
This gives you the optional command types for speed and type of animation.

I hope this helps!

thank you both very much, but I do not have 3DS max :( I just tryed doing that in MS3D and it didn't export with the texture animation.

what im trying to do is put a 4 frame by 4 frame (32 x 32 pixels each) animation on a sphere to make a new no-sheild texture. if anyone would like to apply this to the mesh please let me know.
