Pulse weapon issue

Post by The-Great-White-Fro » Tue Nov 01, 2005 1:32 am

I know it's been a while since i posted here, but I've decided to get back into modding, even though I've hit a few roadblocks along the way.

My Question:

I want to make the BoP more canon in the fact that it usually fires a burst of disruptor bolts, then there is a delay, then another burst. How would i go about doing this. All I know is that it just requires editing some ODF files, but thats as far as my knowledge of this subject goes. Thank you for you time and any suggestions will be appreciated.

I think I'm going to have to implement a rules changes as I wish people would start stating which game it is they are trying to mod. Anyway, and seeing as this is generic to both armada games, although the location for the necessary odf is as follows:

PULSE.ODF

A1 - /Addon folder
A2 - /odf/weapons/pulse

Look for these lines below:

//save up our fire
//saveFire = 1

//max number of shots we can save
//maxShots = 3

//the minimum time between saved shots
//minimumShotInterval = 0.2

and change them to:

//save up our fire
saveFire = 1

//max number of shots we can save
maxShots = 3

//the minimum time between saved shots
minimumShotInterval = 0.2

This will implement a burst fire style of pulse based fire. However, this will effect ALL ships that use pulse based weapons.

Alternatively paste those lines into the main KDPULSE.ODF weapons file for it to effect the bird of prey only. Be warned that whilst this works very well for A1, A2's effect is less so. Sometimes the weapons dont' respond correctly.

Also giving the weapon a 2.0 second shotdelay gives the disruptor enough time to save up the three shots
