New Clone Wars mod (image heavy)

Post by Titan »

I am creating a new star wars mod based around the Clone Wars called "Star Wars: A Galaxy Divided". I want to try and make this mod as close as I can get to the films and EU. Hyperspace will no be in the mod as I found that hyperspace negates the need for fast ships like the Corvette. There are currently two sides only, the Republic and the Confederacy of Independant Systems, later on I may expand the mod to include the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant. I still have to add the V-Wing, Victory class Star Destroyer, CIS Bomber, Droid Gunship and a few other captial ships. So without further ado here is the current shiplist and some info about the ship:

Galactic Republic:

The ARC-170 was jointly produced by Incom and Subpro. Like their other starfighter designs of its time, such as the Z-95, the ARC-170 had a narrow spaceframe flanked by large engines. The ARC-170 also possessed an S-foil system. These helped to radiate heat, which aided the fighter's shielding. They also provided additional stability during atmospheric flight. The ARC-170 possessed powerful weaponry. It carried 6 proton torpedoes, and its wingtip-mounted heavy blasters were unusually large for a starfighter. It also had 2 light blasters. The ARC-170 was crewed by three clones: a pilot, a copilot who operated the wingtip-mounted lasers, and a tailgunner who operated the rear-mounted cannons. The fighter also carried an astromech droid to perform onboard repairs and navigation.

The Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, sometimes known as the Jedi interceptor due to its popularity with Jedi pilots, was a Clone Wars-era starfighter that shared design elements of the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class "Jedi starfighter" and the TIE fighter of the later Galactic Empire. Thanks to its status as a war-time starfighter, the Eta-2 had more firepower at its disposal than the Delta-7—two heavy laser cannons and two light ion cannons—though the fighter's limited power systems restricted it's ability to fire continuously.

The Low Altitude Assault Transport (LAAT) was a specialized gunship used in the Clone Wars. It and its variants were produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering. The gunships mounted numerous weapons emplacements, including three blasters, two single and two twin composite-beam lasers, eight anti-aircraft rockets, and two mass drivers for launching larger missile weapons. They were equipped with atmospheric containment shielding and could be deployed from space, but their optimal fighting range was still in the lower atmosphere.

The 752 meter long Acclamator class assault ship carried thousands of Galactic Republic clone troopers into battle. As troop transports, and therefore not dedicated combat craft, they had a light armament—4 heavy missile/torpedo launch tubes; 24 point-defense laser cannons and 12 quadruple turbolaser turrets. Near the end of the Clone Wars, a more updated version, the Acclamator II-class, was put into production. The ships would see many battles in the Clone Wars.

The Consular-class space cruiser was a ship designed and manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation and used by the Galactic Republic to transport Jedi and diplomats to trouble spots across the Galaxy. Although initially unarmed, the Clone Wars forced the Republic to outfit its diplomatic vessels with laser cannons, for added security. Many cruisers were modified to have double turbolaser cannons and two concussion missile launchers to serve in the Republic Navy.

A versatile ship, the CR90 was used extensively by the Republic. The interior of the CR90 featured a modular design to allow for easy reconfiguration of the corvette from one of these function to another. Common configurations included a troop carrier, light escort vessel, cargo transport, or passenger liner. Its ease of modification was a trademark of CEC's and increased the corvette’s resale value.

The massive Mandator I-class Star Dreadnoughts helped form the Kuat Sector Defense Fleet, working alongside Procurator-class Star Battlecruisers. The Mandator I-class had a main reactor large enough to protrude from the "belly" of the ship, similar to the ventral bulb of the later Imperial-series. The original Mandator was only equipped with a limited hyperdrive that restricted it from long-distance, transgalactic travel. Ships of the two sub-classes would become fully-fledged Republic vessels during the Clone Wars, as all home fleets were incorporated into the Republic Navy, due to a centralization effort spearheaded by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The Mandator was the largest ship in the Republic Navy at the time.

The Procurator-class Star Battlecruiser was part of the Kuat Sector Defense Fleet at the start of the Clone Wars. A Procurator´s reactor was large enough to be visible from outside the hull, protruding with a ventral bulb, similar to that of the Imperial series of Star Destroyers. The Procurator was only equipped with a limited hyperdrive which prevented it from long distance, transgalactic travel. Procurator-class ships became part of the Republic Navy, as home fleets were made part of the greater Republic military, due to a centralization effort spearheaded by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. The Procurator was the second largest ship in the Republic Navy at the time.

The Venator-class Star Destroyer was born from the success of the Acclamator-class assault transport. Designed by Lira Blissex, they were equipped with powerful engines, a Class 1 hyperdrive, strong deflector shields, a large complement of starfighters and ground assault vehicles, and an armament consisting of 8 heavy turbolaser turrets, 2 medium dual turbolaser cannons, 52 point-defense laser cannons, and 4 heavy proton torpedo tubes—all making the Venator one of the most versatile medium warships of its time. At the suggestion of Anakin Skywalker, a heavy SPHA turbolaser cannon was installed within the ventral hangar bay of some Venator-class ships of the Open Circle Fleet. These weapons would prove to be a nasty surprise for unsuspecting Separatist warships. Although it possesses powerful weaponry, the Venator-class was designed with a starfighter carrier role in mind. Its huge hangar bays are far larger than those on the older Victory-class, or even the later Imperator-class. The Venator can support an incredible 420 fighters: 192 V-wing or V-19 Torrent starfighters, 192 Eta-2 Actis Interceptors, and 36 ARC-170 fighters.

Confederacy of Independant Systems:

The Nantex-class Territorial Defense starfighter, also known as the Geonosian starfighter, was a starfighter used by the Geonosians to guard their territories against intruders. It was a lean, needle nosed fighter craft with great speed and superior agility. The Nantex was specifically designed for use by Geonosian pilots. The ship's complex multi-axis control yokes required a Geonosian's dexterity, while vital performance feedback was given to the pilot via a scent-stimulator mask that took advantage of the Geonosians' accute sense of smell. The fighter's main weapon was a turret-mounted laser cannon cradled underneath its forward needles.

The Tri-fighters were deadly Confederacy droid fighters designed as fast, agile space-superiority fighters built to excel in dogfighting. The tri-fighter was designed by the Colicoid Creation Nest - makers of the deadly droideka and manufactured by Colla Designs and Phlac-Arphocc Automata Industries. The tri-fighter had three independent thrusters providing it with agility, and a powerful reactor and control/comms tranceiver that provided unusual range for a fighter drone. The droid was capable of deploying buzz droids via discord missiles and quickly became rival to the ARC-170 starfighter and the V-wing starfighter. It was armed with one heavy laser cannon; a light ion cannon for each of the three "arms" and two to six missiles (variable payloads).

The Variable Geometry Self-Propelled Battle Droid, Mark I, or Vulture droid starfighter, was a droid starfighter used by the Trade Federation, and later the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Like most of the Trade Federation's armed forces, it carried no living pilot, but rather a droid brain that was linked to a Droid Control Ship. The starfighter carried four blaster cannons and two proton torpedo launchers and could reach 1200 km/h in an planet's atmosphere. When not in flight, the ship could transform into a walking weapons platform, used for ground patrol and troop support. A droid starfighter was capable of maneuvers that would kill an organic pilot, but they lacked the resourcefulness and cunning of living pilots.

The C-9979 landing craft was built by the Trade Federation-controlled Haor Chall Engineering. The ship had four wings with a wingspan of 370 metres. These wings were used to carry vehicles racked in garage channels for maximum loading capacity. When deployed, these vehicles were guided along repulsor tracks to a staging platform. Since the maneuvoring equipment onboard was not precise enough to negotiate the cramped confines of the garage zones without casuing damage, they required the assistance of the repulsor tracks. At a staging area, the vehicles were rotated into position and grabbed by transport clamps which bring them aft and lead them down the deployment ramp in the landing craft's foot.

Most Lucrehulks were modified cargo haulers. When the Trade Federation began creating its military, the Executive Board realized the need for large cruisers to transport their weapons across the Galaxy, battleships to defend against starfighter attacks and flagships for controlling their vast legions of battle droids. Reluctant to spend the credits necessary to contstruct and purchase a fleet of military vessels, the Trade Federation began modifying its existing Lucrehulk-class freighters into warships. At over three kilometers in diameter, the enormous vessels resembled flattened disks with a central sphere containing the ship's bridge and reactor assemblies. The disk was broken at the front of the craft, revealing two mammoth docking bays lined with forward docking claws. These gigantic cargo vessels had been built for many years by the Trade Federation and were an important asset to their enterprise.

The Munificent-class star frigate, commonly referred to as the Banking Clan frigate was a starship used by the InterGalactic Banking Clan to defend their private, secure comm network, harass worlds heavily in debt, transfer key financial assets, and guard treasure vaults. Manufactured by Hoersch-Kessel Drive and Gwori Revolutionary Industries, the star frigates acted as a key component of the Banking Clan's network by carrying hyperwave transceivers that allowed secure financial transactions to occur across the galaxy. When the Banking Clan joined the Confederacy, Chairman San Hill devoted a fleet of star frigates to the cause. Munificent-class star frigates assisted the navigation and coordination of Confederacy fleets deep in enemy space. They also escorted and coordinated Separatist fleet actions such as attacks on the interstellar HoloNet relays to demoralized and isolate Galactic Republic forces. The Confederacy also took advantage of the star frigates' powerful antennae to broadcast anti-Republic propaganda while using its jamming devices to hinder enemy sensors, targeting systems and distress calls.

The Providence-class carrier-destroyer, also known as the Trade Federation cruiser, was a capital starship produced and used during the Clone Wars that was originally used by the Trade Federation, hence the nickname. Designed by the Quarren Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps, the rounded, pseudo-organic aesthetic echoed the influence of Dac upon the design of the later produced Mon Calamari star cruisers. The ships were operated by 600 droids although commanded by sentient officers. Providence-class ships were massive, cylindrical 1088-meter-long warships with a pointed nose that tapered towards the superstructure. The surface of Providence-class ships were covered with heavy weapons emplacements including fourteen turret-mounted quad turbolasers, thirty-four dual laser cannons, two capital-scale ion cannons, twelve point-defense ion cannons, and 102 proton torpedo tubes. While a destroyer in firepower, the Providence-class was also a carrier with a compliment of 120 tri-droid fighters and 120 Vulture starfighters, along with 1.5 million deactivated battle droids, 160 Multi Troop Transports, and 280 droid vehicles including Armored Assault Tanks, Hailfire droids, OG-9 spider droids, LM-432 crab droids and NR-N99 Persuader-class tanks.

The Recusant-class light destroyer, known commonly as the Commerce Guild destroyer, was a starship used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. The Recusant-class was mass-produced by zealous workers led by Techno Union foremen, using materials from Commerce Guild worlds. The "Commerce Guild Destroyer" was manufactured by Hoersch-Kessel Drive and Free Dac Volunteers Engineering Corps. Recusants were often used to carry out raids on Loyalist commercial shipping, though in large number, such craft were deadly. Four to six Commerce Guild destoyers could defeat a Republic Venator-class Star Destroyer or Victory-class Star Destroyer. The Recusant-class, like the vast majority of the Confederacy's warships, was largely controlled by automated droid brain technology. As a result, little crew space was required. This gave the Commerce Guild destroyer a sinister, skeletal appearance. It was not equipped with hangars for ground based forces, but carried about 40,000 battle droids for boarding actions. The Recusant also carried starfighters for fleet engagements.

Credits to Coffeboy, Challenger and evillejedi from Star Wars Warlords and to Major Payne for rebuilding and converting the ships to armada. I created the Procurator and Mandator and edited some of the textures with permission from the original creator.

Any thoughts, comments or constructive criticisms are welcome.

One possible issue is that the name "A Galaxy Divided" is copyrighted to Lucasarts as the name of an expansion pack to the Star Wars Galaxies Online RPG.

Those are looking great.

As for the name, change "A" to "The", and there you have it, a different name then.

Looks great!
Did you make all these? Wonderful work!
Is this mod for A1 or A2?
I appologize if I overlooked to answer to any of these while reading the post.
Even though A2 has run like poop on every computer with every video card I have ever had, I do look forward to this mod even if it is on A2...(though would prefer A1!)

Thanks for the support guys. Does anyone know how I might get in contact with Rivendell Studios, as the ships they used in their abandoned republic divided mod would be usefull for this mod. Any help is appreciated.

Just incase anyone was wondering, I will start to put the ships in game when I have all the models and then begins the balancing of the mod. So far I can't put a date on the release but I will need beta testers soon, not yet but soon.

Straxus, this mod is for A2 and I only created the Procurator and the Mandator the others are from other mods.

Just a question:
How do you want to use the LAAT dropships?

I built an Earthforce Marine Corps atmospheric assault craft and I have actually now idea how to use it.
As a spacefighter it won't be that good, as it is a troop transporterm mainly.

Though I am not a StarWars fan, you ships look really good!

In Starwars Battlefront 2 the LAAT is used as a bording ship in space battles.

This looks really promising, it will be interesting to see what you come up with.

Basically the LAAT will be a powerfull but slow fighter/bomber. It will be good at taking down small capital ship too, those composite beams are very powerfull  .

The Separatists will get the Droid Gunship which won't be as powerfull as the LAAT but it will still be dangerous. I also plan to make a Techno Union Gunship which will be a bit bigger than a Corvette and will be loaded with laser cannons and composite beams. The Techno Union Gunship will be good at killing fighters and, when in large enough numbers, capital ships. It will also be fast but the downside will be that it won't have strong shields.

Could you do all of A1ners a favor, make sure you export all your SOD files so thay can be playable in A1. Unless of course you using light maps which you don't appear to be.

This would be greatly appreciated.

Rod.

Rodglas. Aside from several of these being rebuilds which I've done (not mentioned, but I'm not worried about that), look who converted them. Now remember that I've mentioned before that ALL models I convert are done using the A1 exporter to allow for cross compatability.
