If the game starts to load, and quit to desk top,or freezes,it can just be an odf file.I've been modding ka2,since it came out.I have experianced some errors.I retrace them:like adding a new ship, and the game quits to desk top,or,freezes....generally its that odf file.I have had to re-write some odf's becuose some odf files are incompatible with ka2 conversion.I also learned NOT to mess with some files, else you will have to start ALL over. So,I pray its only the tech file. One more thing....make copy's of anything you change first....just incase these problems keep up,it will save some time!!

Future Tense had a tech error about five or six months ago and was very close to shutting down and starting over (as in install new and inputting one unit in at a time)
What I did was:
1. Remember the last time the MOD loaded....
2. Set your add on folder to time order,
3. Check all the ODFs for missing " (ODF checkers are poop and dont do it)
4. Check the techtrees edited for:
- Double Entries
EG:
f1701e.odf 1 fedyard4.odf
fgalaxy.odf 1 fedyard4.odf
f1701e.odf 1 fedyard4.odf
- Invalid Characters such as // @ £ $ % ^ & * ( ) et au
- ODF exceeding 8-characters
EG:
Supercalafragalisticexpialadosious.odf
TheUSSVoyagerNCC-74656underthecommandofcaptainjaneway.odf
- ODF requirements invalid (IE needs an odf that isnt listed)
EG:
fbase.odf 1 fedxxx.odf
where fedxxx.odf isnt listed anywhere else in the techtree
5. If it still crashes, back up your tech trees and install default originals
6. If the game works, then you have a tech error and all you do is write the stuff in again

If you say so, but ur putting the workability in your mod into a computer program, that uneases me, I prefer to do it myself, that way I know for definate that there arent any bugs.
Logically thinking about it though, if the thing says there are no errors, its obviously not working or your MOD would be workin'

You said that the map editor works, right? I'm not sure if I understood correctly, but you're saying that the map editor buildlists that have the modded ships crash the game, right? If so, I'd re-check the ships on the build lists.
It helps to go really slow in checking. If you're even remotely unsure that a line has the correct syntax, find a similar line in a working odf and paste it underneath the line you're checking. This will bring out any mistakes right away.
Also, check again the weapons. Try disabling all weapons on modified ships with "//" to see if they are at fault.
If you've modified any SODs, try loading them in storm to see if they work. Sometimes a broken sod will crash the game (crash, hang, break, etc.)
