TNG PIRATE SHIP

Post by Cmndr_Parker1 » Sun Apr 20, 2008 2:12 pm

I'm working on a modified version of the pirate ship seen in the next generation episode "Unification". I think I've captured the ships essence while keeping it below 900 polies.

They were being used in Unification as troop carriers for the Romulans, as a Trojan Horse for taking over Vulcan... but they weren't pirate ships.

Nice model though. Really nice =)

This is not a vulcan ship. Mr. Worf described it as an unidentified ship with no markers or transponder. It was stealing cargo at a federation fleet museum by taking the position of a federation ship (that was missing) when supplies were beamed to that location.Laforge said that it was loaded with weapons and could easily match the Enterprise-d in firepower.
This is the ship:

STBOTF did have this ship in their game as a Vulcan ship, but that was incorrect. I think that it was a mistake the programmers made due to the fact that the episode was about the Vulcans. Clearly the owners of this ship were pirates or some type of scavengers. Either way, they were well paid if they could afford such a powerfull ship, and they were probably criminals since they went to so much trouble making sure they couldn't be identified. But don't feel bad, it is a common mistake.

Whatever it is, it looks goood  . (I don't think I would've ever taken it for a Vulcan ship, due to color and lack of radial symmetry.) The texture job is pretty darn spot-on, and in my opinion that is by far the hardest part of modeling (except perhaps poly-budgeting). I'd say keep up the good work, and whatever!

Actually yes, you're totally right. There were Vulcan ships seen in Unification, but they were a completely different design. Sorry about that. Microprose obv got mixed up when they made BOTF =)

Cmndr_Parker1, didn't you used to mod Armada before? I seem to remember you sending me a load of ships you'd converted from BOTF a few years ago (2003, I think) for a mod I was making...

Yes Atlantis, that was me. My brother SoulForge and I did the borg planets and the Ferengi add on mod as well. My brother is serving in the middle east now, so I'm going at it alone, but I have a great idea for a mod and I'm going to give it a try. I don't don't know if it will be completed because its going to be a major undertaking for one person...but I do have a desire to breath new life in Armada.
