The ship itself is 5012 polys and it use 4 1024 x 1024 texture maps.

1. Do you have the authors permission?

2. Can you computer handle the high poly -high texture combination?

It doesn't matter about the comments. Its still polite to request and obtain permission anyway.

You might also try sending them an IM on that particular forum...try the orginal poster of the ship as well as the one who posted in comments.

I don't typically like Federation ships but this one appeals to me for some reason.

FYI: I converted that vessel for my personal mod about a year ago, and leaving the original texture maps and poly count, and it worked fine on my machine. I did build it as a hero ship though, and once its gone for me, thats it. I never released it because it was a personal mod and I didnt ask for permission since it was going nowhere.People are very touchy about their work being released without credit, since it takes a lot to put one of these things together, self texture it and all. I'll try and get permission though, and it they say ok, I'll release it.

Folks,

I have reduced the poly count down to 2004 and the ship still looks mighty fine. Major Payne, do you believe do diligence has been done with respect to contacting the original modelers. If so, I will let these gents have it so that they can set it up as a ship for A1…maybe even A2.

What say you MAP?

Gents, if we release it to you are you capable of making the supporting files: odf, build buttones, wireframes for both A1 and A2?

Pepperman. I say go with it, but I would suggest putting an advisory statement in any released readme file to avoid any possible confusion.

Cabel, send me an email pepperman35 AT hotmail.com and I will set this one up and send it to you. When you set it up for release, please include a stateement in the readme file regarding the attempts to contact the models author.
