some Choa Dai ships

Post by rodglas » Mon Mar 14, 2005 1:04 am

Here are some of the completed ships of the Mysterious Chao Dai.

The Choa Dai are reclusive, dangerous and powerful.

The Dragon Class is one of the newest observed ships in the CD fleet, sleek fast and heavily armed the CD have begun deploying these in alarming numbers.

The Serpent Class are some of the oldest ships in the CD fleet, slower but thick hulled these sube were long the mainstay of CD defences.

The Kimua Class is the light sub and backbone of the CD fleet. Many of these subs have been observed on the borders of CD territory.

The Shiou subfighter if fast powerful and nearly invisable to regular sonar, making them hard to kill. A single flight is enough to harass even the most powerful vessels in other navies.

Would be nice to see some of these textured. Are they just ideas or will some of them eventually be released? If so, for A1 or A2 or both?

They are textured, somewhat genericly sure but they are submarines after all, most don't have a lot of windows and such. As I'm still trying to wrap my mind around making textures, these are what I have.

As for releasing them, they will be part of the SeaQuest Mod for A1 and will be released as part of the Chao Dai nation, an advanced but isolated and dangerous people who would have played a larger role in SQ 2032 if it had not been concelled.

Only the Shiou subfighter is canon.

If you want, I could try to make textures with shading to make them fit in with the look from the size comparison chart. (by the way, I made the size comparison chart my desktop wallpaper so that I would have easy reference when attempting seaquest models.)
As you said they are submarines and as such dont have much external detail... BUT I could emphesize on shades that would bring the exterior shape and design out more.
I really like the Shiou fighter sub design!
I also had another idea speaking of submarines... Do you want an animation effect for churning/bubbling water following submarines as a result of the propulsion systems?

I like. :)

However, I must say that you should most definately switch sthe descriptions for the Dragon and the Serpent. The Serpent looks older and smaller than the Dragon. The Dragon looks like an underwater dreadnaught and the Serpent a light cruiser. 8)

And I really like how it looks like you've unified the design of them with that little dip in area under the nose. I assume this is the intake for aqua return drives? That certainly gives a feeling of a distinctive style for the Chaodai.

@Rodglas: I ran into a small problem... I keep forgetting I am running older version of 3dmax than most people out here... My version 3.0 cannot read the files, so I will need you to send them again in .3ds format if you can... Sorry about that...
I had high hopes of having them textured by tonight, since I had time...
oh well. Hopefully by next week. (busy weekend ahead for me)
