The Weapon is Away

Atmospheric bombing run by a flight of bombers.

Which one looks better? First (no motion blur) or second (motion blur)?

The second one. I can actually feel the impression of movement.

I like the second one for the same reason. It makes it look more real.

I agree with JPKTrekker and Captain_H, the second one has more of an action feel to me

Look at it this way, if you were watching them at eye-level, then there would probably be little or no blur... Plus, the first one is just clearer.

I think the second one is better, it gives the illusion that you are on a bomber next to those in the scene.

The second one. You can feel the impression of movement and you are on the bombing run. The first one would make a good still picture.

The first one. It's easier to look at. The second one just makes my think that i'm drunk or something... not that i've ever been drunk... (slowly backs out the door)...

Edit: I just noticed but there is a reflextion on the middle one of the one on the right. 8O wow! I wish I new knew how to do things like that.

Edit2: Hey quantum, my nephew wants you to know he thinks its "Kool".

The first one.

The effect for the second one is really much better for movies, not for still pictures.

The blur depends on what the picture was taken with. judging by the futuruistic nature of the ships and by the current rate of advancement in technology, I'd say the first one would be better, mainly because cameras today can take claer pictures of movement. the only reason the second would be closer is due to vibrations of whatever is taking the picture. But I like the first one better.

What you say is true, but the simple fact is that motion is conveyed much better in the second. Even if it would not technically be blurred, in a still picture, there is no way to indicate motion other then a blur. In a movie, it's fine, because you can actually have the ship move, so you don't need to comnvey motion creativley. And no matter how good the camera is, if those things are shooting past it fast enough, it will blur.

The first one, because there is too much blur in the second one. Otherwise I would say the second one. But they are both awesome.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I'll take them into account if I ever do a new version.

Harrie: nice work picking up on the reflection. It was more of an accident than anything...
