Send the fleet to

Model makers. Got something to show of or brag about?? Then show 'em off here, but read the rules first

Send the fleet to

Post by iOSYS » Tue May 31, 2005 8:35 pm

There is this turn based strategy game for the Palm Pilot called "Planets." I love it. I'll try not to go into too much detail about the game, and say that in a nutshell, you send fleets from your home planet and colonies to other planets (that may be populated or un-populated) and try to destroy the enemy. Very fun! Problem is, when you say "150 ships to "Planet J" (Planets have one letter as a names) you don't get to see the battlefleets clash :P. So I took it upon myself to depict the game in a visual-er way. Here is the battle for "K", a planet on the Blue faction-Red Confederation border. The ships with red highlights are Confed, and the blue tinted ones are Blue Faction. How do you like my renditions?

PS. The reason the ships are somewhat lacking in detail is because I did not want to spend large amounts of time I dont have making poly heavy meshes for scenes with ships that appear an inch or 2 onscreen :P.

The First Battle Of "K"

Red Faction Cruiser

Blue faction Equivilent (still working on it)

Nice. Simple ship designs but they make for excellent pics.

I think that phaser beam is fine, but I especially like the mini battle going on in the bottom right hand corner, that is really amazing!

Reminds me of a game I've taken up again lately called Starlancer. The ships you've made are reminiscent of the ones in the game. Pretty cool idea, iOSYS, nice work indeed.

Definitely reminds me of the ships and weapons used on the opening battle scene of Star Wars. Very good stuff. Hope to see it released soon.
