you guys wanted a battle pic eh? :P

I thought it would be cool to have a ship where it's shields where visabel at all times. I dont see a reason why shields would become visabel only when in tactile contact with an object. Anyhoo, these aliens are parasitic life forms, non humanoid and they conquir with the mentality of a virus. This image portrays an earlie contact with the aliens. Their organic ships generate an absorption field that stops most kind of weapon and spatial radiation form contacting the hull. The ship consumes matter to generate energy. One of the by products of a metabolic system is the ability to project bio-electric charges. Upon contact, the burst cause systemic damage to electrical and organic systems. The ship fighting the 2 aliens in the image has no shields, and so is compleatly vulnerable. The effect lasts for only a few minutes. The area of effect, although dependant on the conductivity of the metals it is traveling through, tends to be short. The specific kind of bio electricity's detramental effect/passage degrades rapidly in metals, as for reasons currently unknown, they are relitivley poor conductors.

Hehe, technobabble...

Anyhoo, I just wanted to make a battle scene with my new ship. So I made some nifty aliens, and vwoolah.

Pretty, but why no guns on the bottom?

Space is 3D after all

well, y'see, the ship is made for alot of in-athmo use, so there are no "guns" at the bottom because they would melt during entry. there are however, 6 sets of 28 cell missile packs, so those pesky fighters can't make a killing from below.

As for the texture, there is none. It's all mesh (well, that is a lie, there is a light noise and dent map for a little color and weathering) but the plating is mesh.
