here's two asteroids getting blown up by lasers.

Pretty interesting, although the background could use a little more work.

The second asteroid, perhaps, instead of being ccompletely vaporised as the first, could be seen just starting to break up.

well, i used lightwave 3d. this is actually only a frame from the animation wich I am rather proud of. it started out the two asteroids which were volumetric nulls. i made the lasers slice them and as they hit, I removed the asteroid and replaced it with asteroid-colored particles that moved out in an explosion. for the explosion itself, i used a point light and added a lens flare and i used particles for the firey part.

P.S. the asteroids you see in the background are only the foremost asteroids of the massive asteroid field I have.
