The case Saddam Hussein...

Post by EAS_Intrepid » Sat Oct 22, 2005 4:05 pm

Now, one of the most feared dictators of the 20th and early 21st century is on trial in Bagdhad. One of the defending lawyers of the Saddam junta has already been kidnapped and killed.

In the 70s and 80s, Saddam committed terrible war crimes and crimes against humanity, when he bombed the Kurdish people with gas and fought a bloody war against Iran.
After the UN intervention "Operation Desert Storm" (the goal was to free Kuwait from Iraqi invaders), Saddam Hussein killed the Shiits, that tried to breake away from the centralistic dictatorship in Bagdhad.

Do you think, that Saddam Hussein gets a fair trial?
Has a dictator, that denied the human rights, the right to be treated under the watch of a human rights organisation like anmesty international or human rights watch?

The right to a fair trial is a basic right. I'm certain that once all the evidence has been presented a fair verdict will be arrived upon and that he will promptly be hanged special1.gif .

He has the right to a fair trial by his own people. That is the only way the muslim world will accept a guilt verdict. The point of this was to make him pay for his crimes against his own people. So, they are the only ones who are truely qualified to put him on trial.

Anytime a defense attorney has taken a high profile criminal like saddam. They have run the risk of being killed.
Anytime a defense attorney has represented anyone that the public is against has seen very hateful things done to them. Even here in America.

I think he will get a fair trial. And I think in the end we shall see his own people convict him of those horrible crimes.
I enjoy the moments of peace and quite.
You know, when you dont think about anything.
I enjoy all 3 seconds of the day when that happens.

I personally agree, that everyone has a right to a fair trial. However, I hate to say it, with Saddam, there's no such thing. He's already been declared guilty but most nations, including by his own people. So how would it be a fair trial. This trial is just for show, nothing more.

But hey, that's just my opinion about the "fair trial". Personally, I think he is guilty.

Although you may think this is merely a formality it is necessary to maintain the rule of law and for Iraq as a nation to gain closure. Further, I'm certain that if there were sufficient extenuating circumstances that would effect a verdict that the defense would enter that for the court's consideration.

Unlike most disposed despots of history he is getting a trial no matter how rigged or not it is. The vast majority of his kind have been immediately killed so the new regimes can put all the bad crapola behind them.

yes this is true but if we took him to a country that doesnt despise him or us then he just might get a fair trial seeing that the judge isnt paid of or he doesnt hire o.j. simpsons attorney staff!
he will be missed

Overall, I don't think there is a truely "nuetral" place anywhere on earth for Saddam.

So, should we just strap him in a rocket and launch it towards the nearest planet. Of coarse, that is a really really long trip.

Let's not forget to throw in the"no-more" bath party of his. Don't want him to get lonely.

You know, there is one thing that does bother me about this. That is, if someone is broadcasted all over the news as criminal, that means then there is a less chance of a fair trail, anywheres on the planet. What if the media were wrong? That if all the broadcasting was someone's personal propaganda campaign? :?:

I hate to sayit but if we dont protect his rights he wins. By doing the right thing it seem un fair, but no matter who you are, the majoriy of people hold some religion. Most religions will say he will be punished fairly when his time comes. Which I feel better knowing. :D
