i seriously doubt that unless they actually miss chargeing you for soemthing you would ever get it for free, if they gave me something that was supposed to be 50$ for 2$ i would take it, they can charge whatever price they want no matter how low :D now if i payed nothing for it becuase it went in my bag by mistake, then i would take it back.

id take it if the person selling it dident notice the mistake. its the persons foult behind the till, not the buyers.

It is a fault of the data entry person putting pricing codes into the chain store's computer system. They're humans and make errors. Garbage in- garbage out. In addition there are softwware glitches. It all has to to do with the UPCs and the SKUs working correctly when a product is scanned.

Super markets have usually been bad at OVERpricing at the register from the price listed on the shelf. So how much do you think you've been screwed out of over the years? Maybe it evens things out.

for me it would depend on what it was, how useful it was to me and how much it costs, if they didnt charge me for a 2p sweet i woulndt worry, but if i some how walked out with an £100 item, i think i'd have to

Never look a gift horse in the mouth :D

If they make the mistake, its their problem. I just take the goods. If anyone asks, i'll admit it because i despise lying, but i won't go and tell them. As a friend of mine (Paul Farrar) says

Conscience impares ambition

Seems a good maxim to me!

Humans and computers make mistakes. I'm not going to get into any hypothetical poop here, just personal experience. I've pointed out mistakes and I've kept silent and profited from the error. It just depends on the situation and the mood I'm in at the time.

Actually I've had this happen to me, and I corrected the error whilst I was at the store. However, if I got home and found I hadn't been charged for an item then I would most likely keep it (depending on the price of the item in question).

The law (in the U.S.) says if they make an error in your favor its alright, but if an error is made in their favor it is termed as false advertising or what not. Not to mention the errors in their favor to me balance out the errors in your favor.
