Darkness, in the chapter I'm working on for one of my stories I've got this: “Kill them all. Leave none alive. Justice for evil has come from the shadows.” I rank Shadow and darkness as one in the same and evil as a seperate entity altogether
The Roman Empire did not create prosperity and come to be feared by having meetings and doing paperwork; they did this by killing all who opposed them.

You have a point there. Though I speak of the Elements that people thought composed the universe before the invention of the Periodic Table.
I choose light because to me it signifies the goodness in the universe and the other half that keeps it balanced, with darkness being the other half. In my opinion you can't have light without dark.

Actually there is a force in the universe more powerful than gravity but it only works at short range. It's called, strangely, Weak Force.
