BI:VR Project further information......Final Announcement

Post by MajorPayne » Wed Oct 12, 2005 12:43 pm

Due to circumstances coming to a head over on A2files.com, I will be publically releasing my project (but not releasing the individual models). Further to this I won't be posting any more images, or information updates if I'm going to meet my xmas deadline (aprox 2 1/5 months time). Also the format in which the mod is released will change somewhat, and I belive that others may want to use the following method:

- Mod will be contained in a self extracting executable archive which will be passworded.
- Password, will be contained in the readme so there is no excuse for not looking through it.
- Credit readmes which be race individualised and contained in a seperate folder. Therefore there is no reason why they cannot be scanned through for appropriate credits.

Call it a revelation if you like but I thought of this before I grabbed some kip this morning.

Now, how many thought that this announcement would be that I was cancelling the project??

I was afraid you were going to cancel it. I am extremely happy to hear that you will be putting her out.

3 cheers to you. :D

These two are amazingly good ideas, simple too, hehe. I will follow this system too.

Makes sense. At the very least a well structured and organised list giving ALL credits would make it a lot easier.)

*raises hand* Glad that you're not though. I get the feeling it would've affected a lot about what other modder's will do about the situation.

Good lad! No I didn't think you'd cancel it but I thought you'd severely limit the release.

I will use the password system and the password in the readme for sure, May I suggest you don't use the word "password" next to whatever the password is so people can't just open the readme, ctrl + F and search for password.

I'm glad you've not lost all hope but how will all that trouble affect where you host it?

just different words like...

To decript the compressed file enter this keyword/word/text

I know it's a bit of stretch but it's just a thought.

Once this is done I might just make a cut down version for A1 (no where near as many ships or stations as A2's version to keep the playability level up). Remember that this is more to do with strategy than making ships en-masse.
