Display Mode

This question goes out to everyone.

I need to know what resolution (display mode) people run Armada at so that I can gear the gui to look the best at a certain resolution.

The gui textures I'm making are drawn at a certain resolution. The originals are drawn at 1280x1024. Therefore, they look best when you run the game at 1280x1024. However, at higher resolution, the game starts to lag (lags on my laptop, 2Ghz cpu and 256 video).

So, I need to know what resolution you prefer so that I can draw the gui to look best at that resolution.

The current FT gui (seen in the ultimate screenshots) is geared towards 1024x768.

This doesn't mean that it is unplayable at a different resolution; just doesn't look as good.

I'm just guessing here, but won't Future tense be a little more memory/processor intensive? Those who normally run Armada at a higher resolution might have to go lower for the same performance... well thats just what I'm thinking, so maybe not.

From what I've noticed (and this is only an incidental observation) is that FT runs just as well as original Armada. I haven't had the chance to check this with large battles though. So maybe you're right.

I didn't realise 1280*1024 was an available screen resolution for the game.

Personally, I play the game with 1024*768 at 32 bits, with all graphics quality to max. It actually looks good on this widescreen display, surprisingly.

Unless I've got it wrong, and you're looking for my actual screen resolution, which is 1440*900.

1024x768 resolution will appeal much more to the masses so you should go with that.

I myself have a 22"wide screen with 1680x1050 resolution (I kiss it every time I sit down in front of it ) and a computer that can do 1680x1050, but I'll manage without that resolution for this mod.

There is a significant fps drop when Sernaix ships are onscreen which is caused by there animated Hulls, while playing with them people might find they have to lower the resolution.

Alright, here's the decree

The gui will be geared towards 1024x768 resolution. This poll has also been posted at armada2files. The results of both polls have shown that that is the most common resolution.

In my opinion, 800x600 is too low for an enjoyable game, even if fps suffers at higher resolutions. Hopefully the sernaix texture animation will not stall people's CPU's.

Use alternate font. Should help.

If that doesn't help, post a screenshot. I'm actually thinking of replacing the original font. It'll be an insane ammount of work, but it might be worth the effort.

I sortof use 800x600 resolution once in a while but I half the time use 1280x1024 resolution.
