Re: Everyone hates me - what am I doing wrong?

I used a couple of games to test how the AI's diplomacy works and one thing I realized is you have to fight someone or you'll be fighting everyone. Basically, the AI empires get very annoyed if you have a peace treaty with their enemy. So trying to be at peace with everyone results in everyone disli...

Re: should I accept their surrender?

I'd just accept. At the point the offer comes you know you're going to win and the mop up is usually uninteresting (and especially long and annoying when you're the Federation though you're not in this case).

Re: Training Transport & Colony Ships

It does make the ships harder to destroy thanks to damage control and more defense, so if they get attacked experienced transport ships are more likely to escape.

Re: Enemy ships going beyond their range

I recently saw a few destroyers tucked off somewhere well away from anything giving them support, which sounds like what you have. They disappeared eventually; I don't know if they got destroyed by someone else, just moved on, or were scrapped (I've seen AI ships get scrapped due to stranding a nume...

Re: Any way to get use out of Intel on higher difficulties?

i play mostly UDM3.0.dc On impossible I only get to sabotage when i have like 50+ systems and they have only a few left. They get big bonuses so don't expect your offensive intel to work; it does work however in preventing them sabotaging you. And like Thunder said, you need more than 30k intel; i ...

Re: Windows 8 problems/solutions please post them here

I wanted to report an odd issue with using the DLL files to run the game, in case anyone else runs into it. It doesn't seem to happen through DxWnd. Basically, moving the mouse from the Orders button to the Redeploy button crashed the game sometimes, but only when playing as the Klingons. I can't gu...

Re: Any way to get use out of Intel on higher difficulties?

I decided to run a quick and somewhat unscientific test. Started an Impossible game as Cardassians at Tech 5, everyone else was Tech 4. I used F11 so that I found everyone. I maximized my Intel and let the saboteurs loose. The results convince me that Intel can be worthwhile on Impossible; high leve...

Re: Any way to get use out of Intel on higher difficulties?

I am currently playing a game using the Ultimate Mod and have 108 systems with over 24,000 in Intel and around 1/3 of the systems are still be developed which I will turn into databanks centers. That 24,000 is in natural points with Internal security bonus of over 600%, esp is like 80% and sab is l...

Re: Any way to get use out of Intel on higher difficulties?

On the final turn I had just above 6800 intel (it was a 75% victory and not a 100%, though)--obviously well short of 30,000 so if that's the amount used to pierce AI defense on impossible it's pretty clear why I had limited success--I figured since a research level of around 10,000 was cutting throu...

Any way to get use out of Intel on higher difficulties?

So, the AI gets some protection from intel attacks on Hard and Impossible (https://www.armadafleetcommand.com/onscreen/botf/viewtopic.php?f=225&t=2311), but has anyone managed to get good results out of sabotage on these levels, especially on Impossible? If so, how? I'm mostly asking since yesterday...

Re: A Few Questions

Welcome to the board. 1. I attacked and invaded the Mintakins which were part of the Klingon empire. I was not given a choice to free the minor race when I invaded. From then on the Mintakins were listed as subjugated by me (Federation). I think the problem may be that the Mintakins had joine...

Re: Crazy Mods...

Sounds like a great game! Not sure I'd have the patience to go 500 turns with the Federation's wartime morale problems, especially when you factor in the huge wait betweens turns once that turn number gets up. My most recent game as the Federation got a little over 200 (way longer then the Cardassia...

Re: Cardassian numbers

I'm not sure the comment has much basis in actual gameplay. The same screen also says that Ferengi ships are lightly armed, but they actually have huge numbers of torpedoes that can cause serious damage, and about the same number of beams as Federation and Romulan ships.

Re: Adding the circle command to strike cruisers?

Thanks a lot, thunderchero! That should work perfectly for what I'm trying to do.

Edit: My plan may be derailed by just how sluggishly Strike Cruisers move in battle, though, even with incredibly high agility.

Adding the circle command to strike cruisers?

Hello. I was wondering if there was a way to allow the player to give the strike cruiser group circle orders? I wanted to use the artillery group as sort of a secondary cruiser group with a variety of different ships in it and not just torpedo boats. I read the topic on tactical commands ( https://w...
