True, but it presents an issue when adding a lot of new starships and hence having to use multiple ships on the same phaser slot.

An interesting read geon, but unfortunately (and no fault of your own) flawed. The problem here is that in various episodes of Trek, including TNG, the ships either has paper-thin shields, or has a super-strong hull, depending on the episode. Well I'm pretty sure that the colours are simply a way of identifying the empire. So everything about the Federation is blue, the Klingons red etc. It means that both in normal mode and battle mode, you can instantly know what ship/sector belongs to which faction. I'm trying to make a new cursor, but I can't figure out what size the TGA I'm starting from needs to be.
Also what file controls the mod acronyms (ie UDM, ECM etc) appearing in the lower left corner of the start splash screen?

Sorry, should have been more specific. I mean the one that appears as soon as you load up the game. In Vanilla BotF, there's a Galaxy-class surrounded by a multitude of alien ships. You then have the main menu on the right with 'continue', 'single-player game', 'multi-player game' etc
