There is 4 tga's per race each set uses race letter

c = cardassians
h = federation
f = ferengi
k = klingon
r = romulan

here is example for cardassians
i_co11.tga (outpost)
i_co11on.tga (outpost selected)
i_cs11.tga (starbase)
i_cs11on.tga (starbase selected)

I did a test with 3 AI races allied and all start as enthusiastic and they broke alliances before turn 35.

So I doubt if there is a way to keep AI in an alliance, they just have there own objectives.

The patch has no uninstall option right now

territory shading uses *_check.tga and majors system names is controlled by fnt file ******09.fnt
