Re: Admiral Chat
Do you sometimes think: whoa, double rainbow? What does it even mean? And just lay down in disbelief while laughing and crying at the same time? Then just watch our new season of: Star Trek: Epilepsy It'll literally blow your brains out. Now, we doubled down on the lens flares and cut the actions sc...

Re: Windows Update strikes again
Mice still woke up the PC even with this option off. ^^ And I disabled all the USB devices and there were a lot. Just insert a dongle into another slot and you get a new entry xD Due to new sysdrive, I had to re-install a couple of days ago. Now it's back to square one wrt to standby. The superficia...

Re: My computer build
9 years is amazing. :) I could write pages (you know me ^^) about what's going on right now wrt hardware. But first things first: what's your budget? What kind of programs are you using/planning to use? (general use-cases) For AM5 you pretty much pay the early adopter fee. And since it's a new platf...

Re: 5 New star trek shows in the next 5 years
Yea, I'm not a big fan of the holographic screens either. Maybe we're just flooded with tech and futuristic outlook these days that nothing looks "cool" and next centuries anymore. Reminds me a bit of car designs and how rarely I find something to be iconic these days. I'm not a huge car g...

Re: Picard is back in a new Trek series!!!
From some comment somewhere I got that season 3 so far seems to be better than what was before. Though, I can't confirm that, yet. If anyone has some insights (spoiler free please ^^) feel free to share.

Re: Windows Update strikes again
It's been some time. I heeded your recommendation once again, slick, and turned that ransomware protection off. It got annoying at some point basically preventing pretty much anything. Standby seems to be working now as intendend. Computer turns off, stays off. Though I had to deactivate the mice ag...

Duuude, what did I step into... yea, I felt the same some time ago xD (thank you captaindusk) That's the beautiful thing about the net, though. Everyone can spout their stuff out. In this case it is Axis' own personal matrix / rabbit hole ;) I always find the reactions of the people rather in...

Re: Windows Update strikes again
Actually, if you look farther down in Device Manager there is "Mice and other pointing devices" under Windows 11. In earlier versions it was often just "Mice". You'll want to look under that section for the power management options. Also they ONLY appear if you are logged in as ...

Re: Are all our north American users OK in winter storm?
Yea, these little LED flashlights where you can throw in a bunch of tripple A's are amazing. I've a couple here as well and also use them when I have to crawl under the desk xD Still, the temperatures would probably kill these things rather quickly as well. I've two versions here, where one has 3 LE...

K-lite codec pack. Now that is a name I haven't read about in a decade. Cool, that it's still around. Personally, I'm using an open source version of MPC-home classic. It's on github and maintained by one guy alone for years now I think. It's working flawlessly and recently he even added darkmode :)...

Re: Winning as the Feds by diplomacy alone
I'm not saying it is communism, but those people just woke up and are struggling to understand the new world they find themselves in and given how prominent the Soviet Union was in politics from WWII through the 1980's I can't see how they would NOT make the connection and think they were in a comm...

Another thing I miss about the ninetees. Remember these massive switches with metal springs in them? When you pressed the switch it was audible and it was absolutely sure that power was off for good. No S0-S5 sleepstates for all kinds of situations. Just a simple killswitch. As mentioned there, most...

Well, here's the thing. The mouse is off It's wireless and has a button to turn it off completely.
Despite the iso mats I've here for sports which should reduce vibrations, it's probably me stumbling around in the morning, though

Re: Winning as the Feds by diplomacy alone
Ah, interesting that it was mentioned in TOS. I feel that the vision behind TNG and TOS differ by quite a bit, though. Now, TOS was this 60s/70s show were the attractive Captain got a new woman every day/week. It had quite some vibe. I think the vision changed or got more implemented the more succes...
