Re: Clear explanation of ground combat please.

Thanks. This gets me closer, but it still doesn't list some values, instead telling me to "find them in UE." I've never used that editor before. Can someone list them? I don't care about every single minor race, just the 5 major empires. In the example, Cardassians were listed as 1.1, so I...

Re: Clear explanation of ground combat please.

Thanks!! I will take an in-depth look at that code & procedure. I want to know what the odds were in this case. I might even write a simple program to run the calculation and tell the odds for a given invasion, as well as tell the necessary transports to reach certain % success against a given t...

Clear explanation of ground combat please.

So I always have trouble with invasions. I usually have to bombard them to a paste and send in way too many transports, to avoid being "repelled." This one just took the cake though. Vanilla game, me as Fed invading a Cardassian system. I had bombarded 1 turn, prior to adding transports: S...

Does the game cheat when it invades you? They always seem to take giant colonies every time with 1 transport ship, while I lose 10 trying to invade a medium size one.

One small thing you can do is try to avoid long, drawn-out bombardments. Every turn you bombard you are losing morale. So maybe try to do it in an overwhelming fashion, to minimize the morale-hit turns. Empire-wide morale structures are also great to offset the morale hits.

The next movie will "flash sideways" and all the characters will be talking to dead relatives, and then at the end they will all get on a starship to the afterlife.

I thought the romulan and klingon ships from TOS were "shared designs" because they ran out of budget and had to use one for the other at some point.

I have only experienced trek.icd as being "infected" and it is almost definitely a false positive, unless the original file was infected on the original CD-ROM 10 years ago. Update Avast, then try another scan of all those directories. Tell us what virus it supposedly is seeing in the othe...

Avast claims: (for trek.icd)

Malware name: Win32:Malware-gen
Malware type: Virus/Worm

Does it for both multi-installer and my cd-rom version.

Interesting. Yes it does seem to run fine without the file. Others have reported the problem on google so it seems like a false positive in the file. I guess if it isn't needed, it might save some hassle to just eliminate it like you said.

trek.icd - virus infection or false positive?

I was doing a full system scan with Avast, and it recognized all my trek.icd as being infected. I am thinking it was a false positive, but has anyone else experienced this problem? Also, in the process, the scanner ended up deleting the trek.icd file for my Hades install. :( I have the trek.icd from...

Long post is LOOOOOOOOONG. Some ideas: * Once the Borg have large cubes, I don't think any race could stand against them. Time and again ST glosses over the massive, ridiculous tactical advantage of the Borg (transwarp + size of fleet + adaptation + unified will) for the sake of plot convenien...
