Strange, Task forces shouldn't matter, it's about all ships in combat sector.

But I think I recall the vanilla Vulcan ships I mentioned above were not merged into a TF but each ship a solo TF.

This would mean the combat code for catching ships in the sector works different for minor race ships?

I recall this rare bug in vanilla (most for Vulcan ships IIRC).

But it was never analysed/fixed (AFAIK).

TF change in your picture looks like a redundant code optimization (should work like vanilla just with two bytes freed up).

I don't know if this is intended or a patch bug.

It's not that easy because random events (by default) affect all five empires, not only the player (or the players in MP).

So you'd need to write a code calculating the average of the starting levels instead of the difficulty level.
