Re: The world is a hologram

I don't need chaos, but a world too simplified makes me question. Also there is no reason to believe in repetion in an endless universe when there are endless ways of combination. When you think of, each single moment in time there are already endless possibilities. Well, physics become tough to gra...

Re: The world is a hologram

Then there's the looking out for water in ground with a willow branch. Lol, yeah, try often enough and you get lucky. Or go visit a well made magic show and find countless of samples that might miss the obvious explanation of e.g. they knew ahead of where to search and just intended to trick you. I...

Re: The world is a hologram

Base 9 seems weird indeed but for trinary operations it might give a nice representation. But I think no matter what place in the universe, the most used divider will be 2. Me and you. And it gives a bad choise this case. As for base 12 I agree, this was often discussed as a better choise to base 10...

Re: The world is a hologram

Lets say I felt you deserved an answer to those mind blowing theories you brought up. ;) A perfectly structured universe is not logic at all. The only explanation for the existence of matter there is by today is rooted in chaos. Already at the lowest scale, by what rule could there be any difference...

Re: The world is a hologram

Would a well structured universe be any more logical? We live in chaos and the world is irrational. To believe in things that have no well-founded proof is just a form of mind blindness blanking out part of the chaos in the try to structure your inner imagination. An early form of mentally disorder ...

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing

If that weird bug is somehow rooted in mpr++, I guess there must be something special on one of the cardassian production screen textures. You could try replace them by the ones of another race. But first check that it actually can't be reproduced without mpr++. From the error it doesn't crash in mp...

don't be so mean SCT :D like I said I mostly searched the web on that matter out of personal curiosity just like I posted on your very valid objections on Aralons BOTF guide only to refresh and point out my own rememberings Beside that I still have full understanding when people have hope Microprose...

Re: Microprose is Back

Just out of curiosity I searched the web some little regarding the cbs licensing. Like with music and other ip protected stuff cbs licenses only last a few years at most and then vanish. Specially for steam games this shows to become more and more of a problem since the game publishers must renew th...

Hi Peelster1, sent you the link. But I really have no objection when you guys simply pass on the message when you want to get a game going.

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing

Hey Chris! Nice to see you guys back playing BotF again. :D I am doing fine. I even started to find some more time again with my latest job. But no promises. One sad thing I recently found is that the Ogre3D engine I used with mpr++ is almost dead. The most members left, the engine is split to two i...

Hi neytiri455, you absolutely don't need mpr++ to get botf running, but sent you the link anyhow ;)

hmm, gives a good read and great rememberings! lets pick up your points SCT :D @Basics 5.1 Planetary Assaults/Invasion - Fleet Order Well, selecting a fleet should make no difference. I really can't remember it ever did. In the games I played I found the safest way to prevent the fleet sorting from ...

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing

is it possible to leave autosave and only deactivated it when there are problems? in the first 200 turns i had none so far (except no minor weapons, but they still do their damge) sure plus in the GameSettings.ini you can disable the AUTOSAVE extension to revert to the native botf autosave as far I...

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing

Hey Dissy! Ha, well, it is mind blowing when you start it the first time indeed. But I didn't find time to investigate some serious issues that come with it. So for MP you likely better play without or at least disable autosave and make sure all have mpr++ installed for the battles to work. cheers a...

Re: All in One 2.0.0 beta 2 available for testing

Btw, hiding your ipv4 isn't worth much of protection. There exist ip scanners that scan through the whole range of ipv4 addresses within minutes. See e.g. the ZMap project. "On a computer with a gigabit connection, ZMap can scan the entire public IPv4 address space in under 45 minutes. With a 10gigE...
