when there is a "conflict" it either is hex overlapping or it is that the circular buffer is too small or limited some other way from what I can guess, so possibly a large map conflict

Watching the memory usage on large maps in later turns with lots of ai ships around should bring more light to it. Either it sticks to some limit or correlates with the map and the fleet size. I guess there is some other limit in code then that is checked during ai calculation or generally prior to memory allocation to not exceed the *assumed* memory limit. On the other hand I can't remember ever having checked what memory botf actually consumes.
