actually, if you ever played ferengi, you'd know they can establish trade with anyone they are not at war with. It's a racial bonus, so to say

additionally, they will have full planet info at a non aggression instead of at a friendship treaty

i prefer to first take all the dilitium planets, or bomb them, then colonize them. as last planet i tend to leave a small minor race system and then bribe them away. congratulations, you just destroyed the romulans by bribing the bynars. This tactic doesnt work well against federation though, the mi...

that is quite some micromanagement... i usually dont bother monitoring new colonies that close. I buy 1 factory and have 1 in queue, then enough farms to sustain half the population, then some more factories, then the rest of the farms for max pop, finishing with maximizing factory numbers as apprpr...

considering cannon, a ship like this might be reasonable. however, considereing balance, this will give the federation the most powerfull command cruiser, the most powerfull fast attack and comparatively incredibly powerfull 'non-combatant' the only word for that is unbalanced, unless all the other ...

generally, 1 set of structures is targeted by the quake or strike, either food, energy etc. orbitals go into the science or defensive area i believe, but i'm most likely wrong at that

note from observation:

the game is surprisingly realistic. huge numbers of 1 facility will slightly reduce efficiency. your 20th factory will not contribute as much as your 1st. I cant find the games where i found this, but it does concur with random observations

i'm not sure about the quote, but i think it was this: the sinews of war, endless supplies of gold well, gold-pressed latinum in this case another point to look at, if the ferengi have any power at all, they could ruin the stellar economy for their enemies. then how would they buy new ships? recruit...

1: limited by your range 2: limited by your treaty: nothing higher than non aggression 3: limited by range you still havnt adressed the topic. In the series, other races could address seperate member species. you cant. once the bolians are members of the federation and you sign a frienship treaty, t...

since the AI always cheats, the fleet isnt always reflecting the actual faction. As such, I have a lot less trouble at destroying federation fleets than romulan fleets, nor do i care much that they can buy minors since i subjugate them right out of their influence. Cardassian ships are nice as soon ...

sounds good, I'll play :) moo is nice too. I do agree a bit on the micro management, but otherwise... lets just say that with todays computer, the tactics, strategies and graphics of the battles would be so much better. for example, ship groups would be how they are in the main window and not groupe...

minor races can give you a huge advantage. as i mentioned in a previous post somewhere, zakdorn will let you train anyone to legendary at their college. the research races don't need explaining, nor do the benzites, ullians and betazoids keep your empire clean, etc etc. ofcourse, this only concerns ...

the likening to japan goes further. you could become a minor house through acomplishment, furthering your family name, and when a major house fell from grace you could become a major house in its stead if you had enough support
