all ur points r valid, ofc, but at this point of discussion it simply depends upon luck and probability of later game development. u may get simply destroyed by an ai playing like that [or at least get a few systems washed away - which in my mind is a total turn-off], or u may not, depending on many...

I played 100 turns as Ferengi, level 1, LBoP medium elliptical. I have colonized 21 systems, have yet to meet an AI, but I suspect the game is already won. i suggest u continue playing. not everything is so easy as it seems... ur 21 systems r surely badly protected, since u rush ur expansion on beh...

we sure have different experiences. so, since we are both playing medium large map, what 1st comes to mind is the map itself. i have been trying a few different maps of the same size/type, and i came to conclusion that they are pretty different among themselves. various map attributes get placed pre...

3) Weaker AI fleets. Is this because of ship support? My first instinct was to moan about the change to ship support cutting into my precious latinum, but it quickly occurred to me that everyone else is going to like it even worse! A Ferengi might count it as a loss if everyone earns 500 credits a ...

Any news on your project?? yup. i hope i'll release those files this week. but, they will need more testing, since we had only a limited time to test it. but, so far so good. we had no more trouble than usual. tested on three configurations, one intel-based cpu/gpu laptop, one amd-based cpu/gpu des...

well, it's not interpreted as an insult this time. maybe my interpreter is broken... or just out of time. :p so, maybe it would be a good thing to compare the way ur two posts were written, and learn a degree in psychology. ;) u have succeeded in lessening my arrogance now [it haven't left entirely,...

botf/mpr was made to handle three/two texture resolutions, and i simply cannot imagine they did it that way just because they could - there has to be an engine dependent reason. Read about mipmaps, than you know why: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mipmap Todays grafic cards have no problem rendering ...

all of my guesses are quite logical, if one takes time to think about them. botf/mpr was made to handle three/two texture resolutions, and i simply cannot imagine they did it that way just because they could - there has to be an engine dependent reason. following this logic and my different experien...

For new models All gif('s) for the model are 256x256 (if more than 1 is used than they are different) they should not be. it's a wrong practice. You would need to understand new ship models since they are not the same as vanilla models. that doesn't rly change much. As to the rest of your statement...

now, the research screen uses only a single one of them. it's logical to suppose [i do not have time to test it now, but i am quite sure i'm right] it was made to display the 128x128 texture, or the _c version. since udm doesn't use 128x128, and ppl are reporting research screen crashes in udm, reg...

romulan ships from bop are also great. is there any difference in process technique u r following between them? since i play romulans [feds are simply excluded from my mp games; they are simply unbalanced, better said - too good to be true - even in bop], i have a great appreciation for both romulan...

Could the few 128x128 textures be a problem then, or is the 256x256 limit the only consideration? as far as i know, microprose graphics interface [also known as mpr, or better mpr.dll], has few model renderings states. the old, original, mpr [version 4.0], used in vanilla, was made to handle three ...

even utorrent comes with ask.com toolbar, so, installing without reading [aka just clicking ok] does little benefit to anyone. that's just like saying yes to everything ppl ask you to do - not a very wise idea [also, an understatement by itself]. unfortunately, that's how industry works. i imagine w...
