Re: Have long-turn-loading times been fixed?

if it's so slow cause it needs to read back the data from disk all the time, then installing to some virtual ram disk should do the trick. try e.g. http://www.freewarefiles.com/SoftPerfect-RAM-Disk_program_94028.html ( last free version ) or https://www.starwindsoftware.com/high-performance-ram-dis...

Re: Planetary Assaults - Morale Management (Damage Control)

I do use the arrow keys to scroll around the map but it would be much better if the game responded to the mouse. Thanks for the "I" and "O" for small and large map toggles. :-) . You mean you didn't know that if you double click on a cell, it will focus on that cell, moving the camera view with it?

It's not a good thing to annoy anyone in general........it just causes problems in the future. If you want to have some fun, go rock climbing ;)

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing

that's a temporary issue I don't worry about it'll vanish when I implement some better wrapping for the rendered objects great to hear it works fine beside this little phantom :) Oh, okay :lol: . it was a weird thing to see a red line going through the screen.... I did run into the ship inside of a...

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing

So I'm playing UDM using MPR, and than I get this to my surprise :O

I know I'm way outnumbered, but I noticed that there's still a beam being shot from one of the ships, a red line all the way across....

but other than this, the game plays great! hardly any slowdown at all during combat :up:

Re: ship to ship distance of attacking fleet

Very nice find, Thunder! Do you think we have any chance to get these parameters mod-able from UE? I know DCER is MIA; but maybe someone else has time, knowledge, passion and the source code from UE to give us the tools to make us, mere mortals, feel like gods by modding our games. Anyone can downl...

Re: C++ Lesson 3: Classes

Just for the hell of it, I worked on this (using microsoft visual studio express 2010). I added where it keeps track of how many more games needs to be played for either value to win. main.cpp #include <iostream> #include <cstdlib> #include <string> #include "lesson3.h" using namespace std; int main...

Re: BOTF Mac issues

Not sure if this applies, but I know that running BOTF on linux through wine works just fine. So perhaps try that. I do know that it goes a bit slower than the windows variant.

Re: C++ Lesson2: Some Basics

string is included by iostream header and system("PAUSE") he doesn't need as the while does loop till the user types in "exit" so also the cstdlib include can be removed. :)
I hate brain farts............I completely forgot about that. Meh, it didn't cause too big of a hick-up ;)

Re: C++ Lesson2: Some Basics

Well, you need two things. first, you forgot the "system("pause");", and return 0 part at the end. and when you are using strings, unlike java, you have to include the call to it. so it would be like this #include <cstdlib> #include <iostream> #include <string> using namespace std; int myint; int ma...

Re: C++ Lesson1: Introduction

"using namespace std;" i know namespaces from using xsl in web applications. but i am not familiar with it on c++. does the above statement mean that we can use "cout" instead of "std.cout"? at least this is what it would mean in xsl. whats the best ressource to look up the std class and other clas...
