After a bit (a lot) of googling I managed to do this with GIMP. You have to follow the exact same order and have to know how to work with the program, but it works.

EDIT: and don't tick trim the palette of the unused colours :P

Yep. Well this certainly changes the gameplay a lot. You only bomb a system when there are very few OB guarding it. But if there are lots of OB guarding it, then you send in destroyers and TTs. This makes OB useful as it requires that the enemy really commit to taking the system. All in all this see...

So... which ones are spy ships? Destroyers. I sent in a lot more than 15 and still got recked by orbitals. That is true but I find it ridiculous that I can ram my entire fleet into Benzar and only kill 10 mil pop + 4 OB before my fleet gets wiped out. If OB are this strong then they should also cost a lot more.

Where does one get this MPR++ for UM5? It's not there wit the default installer. At least not with the 1024 version.

Ok.. I know it has been 2 years since last post, but I just tried this mod out. How is one supposed to bomb anything in this mod if 30 orbital batteries can take out 63 ships. (9 were destroyers, the rest were fleets of 2 kedons, 6 galors ad a hutet).

Oh. That's disappointing because regular version doesn't work for me :(

Trying balance of power in the mean time, still not sure how to bomb a planet with 30 orbital batteries :P

I tried this and I can't launch the game with it. It crashes upon launch giving me the "trek.exe has stopped responding" message.
