This is not actually a crash, but the game hanging, correct? In fact, the game didn't actually hang, it just got into an endless loop due to a battle between 2 behemoths - a Borg Tactical Cube sent to assimilate the Ocampa, but bumping into the Caretaker's Array :shock: I think Caretaker should win...

You can always try dxcpl (from start-run, or winkey+r), force lover dx version.
And some other options you might want to check here.
Also, be sure that you have all libraries installed, or all those tests are in vain!

Yep, crew can be decimated. Right now the only effect is that if all crew is killed, the ship gets stranded. Crew is replenished (at a certain rate) when in an owned colony (with a shipyard? can't remember) or a starbase (IIRC). Oh, and chance to hit is lowered according to crew damage too. There i...

I mean the canon map...but I ' ve just discovered you can alter it manually (is swap the positions of the Klingon and Romulan Homeworld. So it may not be that much of a problem after all. Hmm? Swapping them will make Romulus be to the "south" and Qo'noS to the "north", in the BQ...
