Re: Tactics against Klingon HCII - Vanilla
The best way to defeat his expensive ships is to cripple his economy. Subjugate his worlds, build nothing but Forced Labor Farms/Camps and Trade Goods, scrap every other structure (for credits!), mess them up before he can retake them so they become nearly worthless (and filled with nothing but unha...

Re: Combat. Tactics and helpful advice.
Vanilla Defiants don't cloak. Only Romulan ships, Klingon Bird of Prey ships, and that pesky little Yridian Scout. (Also the Edo Guardian and the Echo Papa Combat Drone in the ECM mod, since apparently the devs "intended" they do so.) But, to be fair, this mod involves the Dominion as a ma...

Re: Combat. Tactics and helpful advice.
I'm guessing the hardcoded AI has many bad habits and dumb priorities which modders haven't been able to fix? 105 ships with 0 losses vs 430 ships with 160 losses does seem rather unrealistic. Although I've seen similar results before when the opponents have great disparity in tech levels. Although ...

Re: Star Trek Discovery (SPOILERS)
I've chosen my path and I've chosen to stubbornly adhere to it. I reject Spock's sibling and I reject pointy-headed Klingons, I support the Tribbles! The line must be drawn here! This far! No further! Even though it does mean I'll never enjoy Mudd² ... which does indeed look entertaining. But it's e...

Re: How do you building large fleets?
Haha, maybe I need to refine my strategies with some more aggressive mp opponents. The guys I play with aren't bad but they get sucked into the colony micromanagement aspect enough to change the whole flavour of the game. I agree you need ships to accomplish anything on the map. It's where the real ...

Do I need a separate user account/login on the Armada site?
I can't tell if it's my browser being difficult, if it's my WiFi sucking, or if they are basically different forum sites, lol.

Re: Largest System Population
Relying on positive planet shifts to randomly improve your infrastructure seems a little iffy, lol. If the upper pop cap is 400 ... 395 is the maximum possible before adding another planet, and 140 is the best possible planet ... 395+140 = 535. So why are there (extremely rarely) any systems at all ...

Re: Homeworlds
That's an interesting post. I'd thought the homeworld systems were generated (assigned) nonrandomly and these "anomalies" in planet naming/numbering were either oversights or deliberate choices. And odd to me that the planets in Sol system are all named but other known homeworld systems (l...

Vanilla 1.0.3 (and same results on unpatched BotF 1.0.1 installed off CD) - Why are some of the homeworld planet numbers (names) out of order? Cardassia system. Yellow Star. 6 planets: Cardassia 2, Cardassia 1, Cardassia 3, Cardassia 4, Cardassia 5, Cardassia 6. Romulus system. Green Star. 5 planets...

Re: Largest System Population
Ah. I seldom change those conditions anyhow, unless hosting a multiplayer game. My experiments restarting different empires on same map with same settings have been successful. Is the maximum *theoretical* system size in unmodded Vanilla = 980 population? I've never seen anything larger than 625 (or...

Re: Star Trek Discovery (SPOILERS)
I see that I'm not alone in doing my own small part to express indignity and outrage, haha. But it's sad that, in the end, the franchise will languish if Discovery and JJ's movies end up being poorly received ... and the official CBS/Paramount opinions will be that Trek was killed by mediocre recept...

Vendetta, always. Not at all perfect but better than being robbed the satisfaction of the kill from Domination.

Is there any way to extract the map seed used in a savegame file?
Can the same map seed be used replay a map from a different empire's perspective?

"Vanilla" from thunderchero's All in One Installer . It's version "1.0.3" ... wasn't able to read my ancient savegames (which were from a BotF version I installed off disc then patched up to 1.02E). But it otherwise seems to work exactly like the original did, with built-in "...

Re: Energy output bugs
Thanx for the database! I use a GitHub IDA Pro/DIE, it looks compatible. But for now I'm focussed on playing the game (when my multiplayer opponents are available) and learning how to customize the installer (when they're not), lol. I am amazed at 15+ years of effort in reverse-engineering and decom...
