While it's a nice idea, I have a feeling it wouldn't be very practical to actually implement such a feature. To try and board a ship during combat would require way too much micromanagement for most people's tastes.

I've noticed that in BOP, minor races don't seem to respond to gifts unless you've forked over at least 3000 credits They do respond to minimum gifts, but the attitude bar is not accurate enough to display every change. Don't set your colonies to auto-build, as it will build far more structures than you'll ever need (especially farms and power plants).
