Re: Only Basic shipyards buildable on colonies
I think those might be used in the diplomatic screen where the minor race's special building is presented. Then only one id per race is needed. UE will use the id of first building it finds for the race and do no re-coding. Edit: Also there're still many strange special features hiding in trek.exe. ...

Error: in alienInfo: The Gorns have unknown an diplimatic status: 8 I must have been drunk or something when I wrote that error message :) You will need to extract alienInfo and fix it by hex editing. Each race entry in the file is 0x40 in size - the last 4 bytes are the diplomatic status. As far a...

Re: Only Basic shipyards buildable on colonies
Uploaded a fix. UE was using the first id buildable by the empire as that empire's native shipyard and the first shipyard was the basic one. I'm sorry for the troubles, saving with the new version should fix the problems.

Re: Only Basic shipyards buildable on colonies
Hi,
I've added a lot of building ids to the latest version and reading this it looks like UE is setting wrong shipyard ids in trek.exe. I'll try to find and fix the issue as soon as I can.
The minor race building ids I've found at 0xC1711 in trek.exe are edited by UE, I haven't found any others.

Hi Spike,
The tick boxes aren't editable yet. This is because it wouldn't be enough to edit this info in just the place UE reads from (empsinfo).

Re: Ultimate Editor
I've uploaded a fix, since the setting of max memory as it is is causing trouble, I've disabled it for now. It should no longer crash. I've also fixed a few mistakes I made previous version.

Re: Ultimate Editor
Hi Tethys,
I've updated UE to hopefully use less memory now. Also there's no need to use the bat file anymore, the app will set the max memory itself, but will ask you to run the bat file if it fails (if it does let me know).
If you still get crashes please let me know.

Re: Ultimate Editor
Thanks for posting these. There's one bug I see that needs fixing the rest are messages for files missing in stbof.res. All of these are related to adding ship models not wdf editing. It's likely you had an out of memory error and it didn't get written to the log. I'll try fixing the memory usage on...

Interesting read, good work. Having a well documented ida file available for download would be nice.

QuasarDonkey,
as you've probably noticed I managed to add wdf editing to UE based on the info you provided. Thanks again for posting it. Hope you stick around and help uncover more botf secrets

Re: Ultimate Editor
That error used to show up if you edit stbof.res with winzip. It means stbof.res isn't in a proper format. Can you open stbof.res with UE, winrar or 7zip? What's it's file size?
