What I'm thinking is that, while the Federation had a few bits of info about them, there was no overall picture of what they really were available.

It's a matter of resource scaling. The higher difficulties the AIs can do all sorts of insane crap that you can't and have credits left over. Oh and with the same planet space they can do better than double you research and intel.

Ah, yes. Economic espionage. that is fun. :) Especially if you NEED the credits. IIRC Economic sabotage tended to deplete their treasury, but more often destroyed the credits instead of relocating them. Now that I think about it again, I don't think I completely destroyed the fleet. I did weaken it ...

Well, I figure the orbitals would be controlled by something groundside. A catastrophic failure of those could create a cascade failure that takes out the orbitals.

Fighting the Romulans isn't that hard. So what if they can run at will? Blow up everything that gives them ship range. I'm actually thinking the 8000 is either square lightyears or cubic lightyears. If cubic(and the UFP being shaped like a Cube) then the sides of the cube would be 20 Ly apeice. If assuming a slab shape 5Ly thick it could be 20Ly by 80 Ly. Considering the distances between Sol and most nearby stars.....

My theory has always been that the Queen was the one who created the Borg. Though if this is true then why her species would be 125 is peculiar. The Borg typically number species based on date they were encountered. Then again the Ferengi somehow managed to rate 180. Then there's the question of how...

Hehe... about the overlay. The Milkyway Galaxy doesn't have two neat spiral arms like that. thus yes, that is the "wrong" overlay. In point of fact it's possible the Federation doesn't have an accurate picture either and used some sort of mockup. But they did apparently use the same mockup...

I wish I could say I didn't like the Cards. But the truth is I've not played them enough to say that. they require a strategy that runs counter to what I like doing in game. (I don't conquer races unless I have to) Then again I dislike the Klingons for similar reasons.
