Re: Problems with 64-bit Windows 10

Maybe it would be sufficient to add a "pop up" informing people that huge maps "might" be a little slow. But good you find the problem with Win7, too. The problem is EXPONENTIALLY worse in Win10 - I had Win7, when starting to play Supremacy and did NOT notice anything...but with ...

Re: Supremacy new release

Honestly, I would reconsider the priorities in this case. I was not aware that XNA was already "dead" for so many years (2013 ?). But if there are alternatives, which apparently might even "re-use" the old code directly...maybe switching should be more an ASAP priority. The perfo...

Re: Supremacy new release

Then perhaps it might be an alternative to consider switching to a still actively supported version of XNA ? According to wiki this should be possible with e.g. MonoGame: https://www.slant.co/options/1069/~monogame-review If I understand it correctly one could even be able to "port" the ol...

Re: Supremacy new release

Yes. Maybe the root cause is 1903 update. But the problem solution cant be to roll back to pre-1903 as this is NOT an option. Especially not for everyone. In 1903 AFAIK were many fixes included for the "speculative execution" Intel-CPU bugs, despite me having an AMD CPU I fear the entire X...

Re: Supremacy new release

Yes...could you probably try deactivating ALL XNA animations and test how well performance then is ? Maybe there is something "wrong" about how these animations are loaded or called within the code, so perhaps they are called and called and called ...but never "closed" or somethi...

Re: Supremacy new release

With *both* patches (installed at the same time) and the settings deactivated, you don't. ? I tested: Fresh install of the 20191206 with dec23rd patch...and the middle 3 settings, *animated stars *high-quality images *anti-aliasing Each single setting enabled (one by one)...lagging is there. And ge...

Re: Supremacy new release

I did not test every patch single. I can rule out Win10 Update. As I tested JUST before rolling over the 2 patches over the game. And then immediately retested. The only other thing I did prior to the patches was deactivating anything in the settings menu which might "cost" performance...I...

Re: Supremacy new release

OK - whatever you did in the last 2 patches. It is MUCH better now. Still there is some small lagging perceivable - but especially "scrolling" build lists (and map) now works quite fast.

Re: Supremacy new release

Installed it (by copying it into the previous installation folder, overwriting everything there is).

Are you sure the stars animations are turned off ? I still can see rotating planets etc. everywhere ?

Re: [Balance] Research speed

It is there basically from the get go when loading save games. But it then gets worse quickly. I often restart the game now every turn to "speed" things up a little bit.

Early in the game the slow downs is far less and "grows" much slower.

Re: [Balance] Research speed

The GUI interface slow down (aka "lagging") issues is getting extreme. Reached Turn 180 and the game is becoming barely playable. Can it be that somehow the animations of all the planets, ships etc. are ALWAYS running (calculated) in the background even if they are not visible ON SCREEN ? ...

Re: Problems with 64-bit Windows 10

OK...quickly tried this by starting a new game with the textures folder renamed to something else

It seemed much better, responsive. BUT it crashed when hitting end turn button.

Re: Problems with 64-bit Windows 10

Renaming the Textures folder results in the game crashing when trying to load a saved game...

Maybe I did something wrong when trying this solution, please describe exactly what to do to implement this workaround.

Re: Problems with 64-bit Windows 10

Thanks for updating the OT. However - are there any hints where this is coming from ? I tried using "lower" ingame settings (like not flashing the stars etc.) this helped "a little"....though the lagginess, greyed buttons etc. are still there. I mean it cant be a performance prob...

Re: [Balance] Research speed

Endless? Of course not. There are only so many characters in the show I suggest you rethink this decision. It might get really "boring" in the late game when one runs out of agents...Maybe just create "random name" / coupled with "random image" Agent when TL 10 is reac...
