Re: Territorial Claims
Here's a capture of one of the changed lines: https://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x120/Gwyndor/cap01_zpsf0329283.jpg The other is also correct. I'm using Ultaredit (an older version) but it's the one I'm comfortable with, and have been using for modding for years and know my way around it for my pur...

Re: Territorial Claims
Thanks Thunder for your continued help mate. In fact, I followed the original explanation well enough it seemed, for I already made these changes, altering lines 0x46b61 and 0x46b6c exactly as described. But it still didn't work for me - not correctly, not the way I had imagined. In the test game I'...

Re: Territorial Claims
Cheers Thunder, much appreciated mate. But I must indeed be a Pakled - an old one as well :/ I can follow what you explain here, but I'm still not sure what to input to get the desired effect, which is: expand Starbase sector claim to 2 sectors radius on each side, and 1 on each side for an inhabite...

Re: Territorial Claims
Hi, old modder here looking to experiment with some of these great new discoveries, but I'm looking for a bit of noob help. My expertise runs as far as using an old hex editor for altering such values. I'm unsure as what exactly to change in hex, in regards to system and starbase perimeter values as...

Re: How to add a Science and technologies
This is interesting stuff. So is it possible to actually use Sociology as a 7th tech field, and have the techtree tied to it?
If so, might it be possible to add further tech fields? - not levels, but fields. In the various BoTF2 projects my techtree consisted of 9 fields.

Re: UDM4 Ideas, Suggestions... Interest?
Cheers Tethys that sounds really good. I'll check it out. I used to use a basic hex editor in the old days, just for changing data in individual files etc, or adding/changing ship entries in trek.exe, but I never touched the rest of it before, probably because in those days it hadn't been very well ...

Re: UDM4 Ideas, Suggestions... Interest?
Thanks Thunder, nice to see you man :) Thanks for your reply Flocke. I have to agree with you on these points. But I guess the reason I was reluctant to release UM5 is because it uses the many tweaks, fixes, and additions over the years (particularly to trek.exe) that others have (heroically) implem...

Re: UDM4 Ideas, Suggestions... Interest?
I fail to see how anyone but Dafedz can give permission to work on this mod? I think you are mixing up Ultimate dominion mod III by me, and Ultimate mod 4 by Dafedz. xDx is working on remake from scratch of Ultimate dominion mod. thunderchero Indeedy, the two are not the same. But I am touched that...

personally I use it for adding new minor race homeworlds et al and removing the old ones; It can also be used to increase the number of worlds for each type. e.g. more gas giants (IIRC Tythes used this to put in asteroids.) However the topic was only a stepping stone -- I was hoping to eventually f...

Yes I noticed that, and it maybe a dumb question but what are people using the Add Planet function for when you can safely edit the properties of existing planets? Another thing. I want to change the growth rate of my new Super-M class planet to be approximate to a regular M-class. Atm its using the...

He shoots and he scores... :) Thanks Tethys! Stupid hex editor, I scoured trek.exe for a list of planet class letters and couldn't find them. How i missed it I don't know. I also figured out the terraform problem by changing the planet type coefficient to M class from barren, thanks to one of Gowron...

*Extreme super epic bump* Hey all. Well I was thinking lately about possibly dipping my toes back into the mod game. Maybe Ultimate Mod 5 will happen yet. One whimsical idea I had to include was to introduce a new, rare, super-planet type. I thought it would be cool to look out for and search for th...

Thanks Zweis, I fully commend your efforts in fixing some of these problems. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately, as far as Botf is concerned I mostly spend time working on the Supremacy project (botF 2), but do drop in here when I can. UM4 always was a bit buggy, and its been a long time since I...

Thanks for that. Another thing I've always noticed about botf, is that Ai empires virtually never fully develop a newly settled system. Examining the systems of an empire I find that most have only 1 or 2 planets terraformed, and support populations often less than a hundred. This greatly stifles th...
