Re: Ultimate Editor

Yes, I edit in a different folder than /botf--habit I learned from modding other games. However, the settings section says it's pointing to the correct stbof.res and trek.exe files. I will check if editing directly in botf's install folder helps. Thank you for replying. Edit: That didn't work, eithe...

Re: Ultimate Editor

Hello, I'm having a bit of trouble using UE to add group names for ships and was wondering if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm using version 0.7.2dev5c. When I try to add a name group it mentions it'll have to edit Trek.exe, of course I agree. However, even after saving I can't seem to...

Re: How to play the game?

Calladice's guide notes that early starts are harder than starting with Advanced--something I agree with though I'm no expert. I suspect this is partially the starting credits; the AI gets a pretty huge amount of bonus credits over the player and if you're basically broke this hurts more than if you...

Re: Just a bit of curisoty...

Pretty sure that's the number of systems with dilithium. Do note that the AI's dilithium report isn't always truthful (I believe they get a refinery on every starting system regardless of whether it has dilithium or not, but the report only gives you the systems that should be able to have refinerie...

Re: What is the most useful minor in the original game?

I'd go with the Edo, personally.
*+19% morale everywhere is invaluable--more industry, more research, more credits, all across the board.
*Friendly and easy to recruit with any empire.
*They even have their own home security system built in.

Re: What is the most useless minor race in the original game

Fickle, fickle bastards. I can't tell you the number of times I've liberated the Mizarians from someone, only to have them turn around and immediately join the empire who'd conquered them in the first place! Gods, I hate them. Although the Federation Council is entirely non-violent, it urges...

Re: What is the most useless minor race in the original game

I wanted to go with the three ground defense boosts, but Martok made me realize the Bolians are even worse. Which is too bad, because I kind of like them. Amusingly, my most recent game had a 500+ pop Antican system. So despite their terrible building I was pleased the day they joined me. Very pleas...

Subjugated System Morale: A Simple Test

This topic https://www.armadafleetcommand.com/onscreen/botf/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=62 from several years ago explains how morale works. I noticed that Subjugated systems seemed to have some sort of penalty--for example the Cardassians have a base of 65 and in the game I had going on I had both the ...

Re: Taskforce changes orders on it's own?

Hi CommodoreGray, I have ran into task forces changing path before, I always just assumed I had an intel attack that gave my task force false orders? but I never gave it a second thought. thunderchero Thanks. It would make some sense that there would be an intel attack that changes ship orders with...

Taskforce changes orders on it's own?

Firstly I'd like to say hello to everyone. I ran into what seems to be a bug in BOTF today and was wondering if anyone else has seen it before (I tried a search but didn't find anything); I was trying to attack the Khitomer system. It was held by the Romuls and I was the Federation. I redepl...
