Hi jonboylondon,

I've seen this error show up when JRE version 5 is installed. Update Java to version 6 and the error should go away.

That's computers...

I haven't had this problem yet, don't what to tell you...

Maybe it'll help if you delete the java folder in program files. Or restart (but you probably did this already...), you can also check if jucheck.exe, jvm.exe, java.exe are running...

EDIT: did you try method2 in the link you gave?

Hi DCER, any news yet on the missmatch between the Trek.exe and the STBOF regarding the Minor races? Were you able to fix it?

I think that was in dev5a but now dev7 is out. If you want to know changes look at change log.

I meant the following issue Thunder:

viewtopic.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=835

Something lists the Minors wrong, or has it stored in the wrong order.
As soon as you change a Minor, Trek.exe gets updated, but then its corrupted and the order of the Minors is completly wrong. So any change you do in UE to e.g. the Ferengi, will hit another Minor.

I haven't tried the latest dev version, since I was off a week to play lumberjack. But I can't find any listed fix of that problem in the changelog after the one in Version 6, and I definitely worked with the Version 0.6.9c when that happened.

yup thats the one did you check change log.

from change log of dev7.0:

Version 0.7.0dev6

General:

- UE now tries to find botf install directory on non-Windows platforms with Wine installed
- fixed ConvertAddressGUI layout bug

Stbof:

- improved Aiminor Check Integrity function
- on rename race in the Race Info panel UE now also edits aiminor.wtf, meplanet.bin and trek.exe

Hi Mentat,

as Thunderchero wrote, versions above and including dev6 will fix the error. Just run Check Integrity on stbof.res, it will output entries saying what was fixed, then save.

Editing Savegames with UE 0.6.9d

Post by GeorgiaBoy »

Good Morning,

I loaded a saved game with the larger galaxy map. I did the following:

EDIT-->SYSTEMS-->SYSTEM INFO

Changed the second planet in the Alpha Centauri System to New Earth from Alpha Centauri 2. Saved game. Loaded game. No change. I saved in the correct directory...I am sure it is something simple...

Thanks for your time,

GB

I checked, the value in the associated file gets changed as it should. This seems to be a limitation in botf. Instead of reading planet names from systInfo botf takes the system name and adds roman numbers to them.

If you rename the system to New Earth you'll get New Earth I, New Earth II etc.

Renaming planets works only in major empire home systems. So if you rename Earth to New Earth, it will work.
