noticed that if you save changes done with UE, some files will also be changed that weren't touched through the changes itself.
Yes, it will adjust other files that UE feels necessary

At one time I requested warning/option when UE would do this, but it never happened

some info, if not already mentioned anywhere:
In UE at Races -> Race Info -> the part 'Home system morale when ruled by:' effects also the colonies of the major empires.

Hello

Please could you help.
I can't seem to get the Editor to actually work.

It runs fine, as admin in command prompt
- Windows 10 Pro 64bit
- Java 8.0.111
The Editor comes up, I make the changes, click save.
I check the stbof.res files's date modified, and it shows the correct / current time stamp.
But when i load the game, the changes are not applied i.e doubling output of building stats, doubling starting buildings of major empires.
If i re-run UE as admin, i can see the changes I made previously - they're saved inside the Editor, but not applied to the game?

I have the latest all in one installer installed.
Made a duplicate of the UDM-L directory, pointed to new path within DXWnd, and was able to successfully load / play the copy game.

What could I be doing wrong?
Please could you advise.

Much appreciated!

I just tried with jre-6-windows-i586.exe
But still no luck

The Editor loads, and saves the changes, so it can't be java issue anyway.
The destination .res file is updated
But the game doesn't reflect the change.
I'm at a lost.

Have you locked down Ultimate Dominon Mod?

no, it has not been locked.

I agree not a java issue.

bad idea, this will only cause issue like the ones you are having.

when loading duplicate directory, it loads correct trek.exe but loads stbof.res from original directory. it also will load wrong registry used by trek.exe

Editing .sav files

I'm trying to add starbases and wormholes to a turn 1 game, but game crashes on attempt to load.

I managed to move an entire major empire to different coordinates.
But if i try to move any more empires, or add starbases, or move existing wormholes, the load game crashes.

The Editor gives the option to add wormholes and starbases, so it should work right?

Any advice?

Thanks

I'm particularly interested in adding wormholes, as UDM-L is, well, larrrge...

Only simple answer needed here.

Any editing of saved game by UE or manual editing will corrupt the saved game.

is there anyway to modify the AI shipbuilding list?

Whenever I modify the AI shipbuilding list using UE to try to change trek.exe, the changes are never updated

Is there something else that I would need to do?

Thanks

No, none. After my edit, I hit save and it goes through the save process as usual.

I know that the save feature works because I have successfully saved changes of the starting credits.

What I'm targeting is the AI's frustrating tendency to build swarms of troop transports instead of more warships.

Thanks

so you are saying when you re-open same trek.exe with UE changes you made are not there? or in game you see no difference

Both --- when I reopen the same file, none of the saved changes are there and they're definitely not shown in game either

But this is just for the AI shipbuilding list

Thanks
