Hello!
I love Birth of the Federation and stumbled upon the website and forum and then read this thread. I am 100% interested in this MPR++ and also would love to know what, if anything, I can do to help? Even if it's just playing it and seeing if I can break it.
Let me know! Cheers!

Welcome Ender! Sent you the link.
Not sure when I find time to continue this project. One main task I'd want to try next would be to decouple the engine and run the whole rendering in a separate process, which would both solve the most annoying freeze bug and would allow to adapt some more modern 64bit engine, which in addition helps on out of memory issues for all the loaded ship models and stuff.
This needs some major overhaul, which is why I never catched up on it yet.

Hi there!
I'd love to try out MPR++!
Also, as you don't have time to develop it further at the moment, have you considered publishing the code on github?
Thanks,
booleanBoy

welcome booleanBoy! another coders name
sent you the link
Further, setting up the mpr97.dll wrapper interface is the easy part for which there is enough documentation on the forums.
The most coders that pass by however prefer to have a ready to go entry point, which is exactly not what mpr++ does provide.
Instead I planned to work on a more complete coding framework that once ready will provide a solid modding base.
On the path to said framework btw I worked on the UE map editor, which is published on https://gitlab.com/stbotf/ultimate-editor/-/branches and soon to be released.

For those that asked so far I always handed the source code. But development requires serious trek.exe asm analysis and coding abilities, further there are some larger issues not easy to address, plus the whole engine needs to be replaced. It's mainly just been an experimental try and before I publish anything it needs to have a more solid base.booleanBoy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 3:37 pm Also, as you don't have time to develop it further at the moment, have you considered publishing the code on github?

Sent you the link, but when it's about the mouse lag, you better try DxWnd first.

Re: MPR++ v0.2.6c open for alpha testing
Great to hear you enjoy playing it! But I'm afraid there is no newer version. I stopped development when the Ogre3D engine project split and I got busy with work and other stuff.
And before I revive projects like this, I thought I better deepen my code analysis and improve the tooling. In the process of it I recently realeased a new version of UE and now am fixing some bugs on it. In a few years, if AFC still exist, I might release a new mpr++ substitute.

Well thanks for your hard work anyway. I, like many others I'm sure, appreciate your great work. Lets hope you revive it sometime in the future Flocke
